As far as anime goes, it's excellent. It has flaws, mainly an ending that lacks impression, a few times it allows bad characters like Julian to take too much screen time, and some plot points could be more mature.

However, Reinhard and Yang are excellent characters, and it's mature and intelligent in the plot, writing, development, themes, even presentation. You'd be missing out if you chose to watch another anime over it.
