This has stopped happening though. Or it's a lot less frequent. Even in 2011, there'd be a lot of green links because mods would actually issue local bans for shit as trivial as NSFW images. Why does this matter to people? All content that requires images can fit in the image boards. Very rarely do you need to post an image on a text board without an image board equivalent. And even if you do, there's a remarkable feature created by the Network Working Group called "URLs". They even get turned into hyperlinks automatically.

You'd think people have never posted on a text-only forum before.

The problem is we started allowing too much grey area bullshite. Ar Tonelico threads went from deleted to babysitted. Idol threads went from bans for "3DPD" to accepted. Now people are literally posting Saten threads and justifying them and sometimes they get hundreds of replies and people who complain are banned. Same with cock sucking threads. Anything you can name now that is so obviously off-topic and spam and whatever else runs a real risk of being accepted a year from now. I'm happy for things to change, as autismal as I am, but it's gotten outright farcical.

We need some more clear-cut rules and actual moderation.

Nobody is saying we need to rigorously standardize what can or cannot be posted. We just need some ground rules and moderation that encourages them. I agree there are a lot of stupid blog threads. People genuinely seem to believe /jp/ is /adv/ or /r9k/ for NEETs and weeaboos, or ask /jp/ for advice because "all my friends are here". 99% of personal advice threads should be deleted, even the ones that start with stuff like, "I'm so depressed lately /jp/ I can't even play eroge what's wrong with me can anyone help me..." and turn into a 200+ reply post about *everyone's* problems. It sets a bad precedent.
However, open NEET/hikikomori threads should be allowed. But they should be the *only* thread for talking about you or your day (unless you bumped into ZUN or something). Obviously people will post status updates and cry and whatnot, but at least it's contained and relevant to the thread (which itself is relevant to the board).
