Where was Yume Nikki originally released? A Futaba thread? A 2ch thread?

Who was the first target audience? I want to know.

Probably on 2ch. Yume Nikki is one of the many doujin RPGs that are made with RPG Maker VT (I think that's the name). So what I can guess is that it was just released to the public, advertised in a few places, a lot of people enjoyed it, and there we have it.

Yume Nikki was released in 04 years before it became popular the creator didn't try to advertise his site it was just there and then one day somebody made a Futaba thread about it and you guys know the rest.

Its kinda similar to IB that it got popular a while after the initial release.

Ah, I've just taken a look at it, and I guess that's the case. In any way, there are still a lot of doujin games that are made with RPG maker, it's impressive. And they're not even of a bad quality. Ib and Yume Nikki are just the famous games. I've heard about many other games that are great and made with RPG Maker.
