Hm, not really sure what to advise. I definitely advise keeping Daiyousei and Koakuma fielded for their HP and MP replenishing.

That, and i try to whittle down their HP with normal attacks usually and saving strong attacks to finish them.

Haven't you played Touhou before?
I think you're referring to Focus.
One, it reduces your Move stat, but negates the movement penalties from danmaku. Useful when the danmaku is so strong that you can't move more than one square without Focus.
Two, it reduces the dodge/hit(?) penalties from Danmaku, and activates Graze. When you are attacked, if the RNG says Dodge, you'll still take some damage, but much less than if you were Hit. Useful when a boss rapes you with one attack, and taking some Graze damage is more acceptable than having more chance of being Hit with the full attack (due to danmaku penalties).

Stage 30 is a fun stage. You fight the Prismriver sisters. What's unique about them that each of the sisters theme is Phantom Ensemble played by their respective instrument... Until they Gattai into one unit which has the theme song played by all 3 instrument. So sweet
