They got rid of all the good/cute iconic things about Japanese school related clothing. That was the first bullshit.

There's always this tension about anime and wanting to restrict it, although when certain stations banned panty shots is about when this whole "anime entirely about naked women" and "anime about women with no pants" and "2 minute closeups of detailed cameltoe" shit started so maybe they've learned not to restrict anime anymore. Anyway they rarely make cool and/or super violent anime anymore either, the kind of stuff that used to make people in the west interested in it to begin with. Even loli is probably in danger in Japan.

Video games are bad for the opposite reason; they're appealing too much to the west. The things I dislike about modern anime are the things I loved about Japanese games. They think the west is a good role model to copy nowadays.

They don't play up anything cool about old japanese culture and clothing any more either. Although that may be because those things stopped being interesting anyway. They should make an anime entirely about kimono girls. It's probably because people started to see the modern Japan rather than how it was portrayed in movies too. I can't really fault them for this. It's like faulting America for not making westerns anymore.

Overall, they seem to be really trying to clean up their image in the world view and be seen as "normal" to the west. Fuck that. I'd rather they isolate themselves for 40 years and come back with some crazy as fuck shit when I'm old.
