This is probably the wrong place to ask this, but what do you guys think about using Rosetta Stone to learn Japanese?
I'm interested in learning Japanese (already started, but I don't have much motivation) and I want to know if Rosetta Stone is an efficient method. Thanks in advance.

Pic unrelated.

Short answer: no.

my japanese coach for ds and phones/itouch if you want a portable way
if not: kanjidamage, heisig, anki, tae kim

there's also a torrent on nyaa called learning japaese w/ good stuff mixed in with bad stuff, and if you do want rosetta stone, it's in there

but rosetta stone in all languages focuses on verbal the main part of a language,

for instance it helped me tons if you use it concurrently w/ learning chinese simply because I had alot of trouble dealing w/ how fast they talked and they I switched over to watching chinese shows w/ subs in chinese since my reading had always been better than my writing

watching shows w/ subs in their own language is a great way to practice any language
