Eating absolutely nothing = you lose maximum weight, both from fat, organ mass and muscle mass
Eating nothing but a little bit of protein = you lose less weight, but about the same amount of fat as above, and less organ mass and less muscle mass

Pretty everything that your body is made of that isn't fat. People who need to lose weight do not need to lose lean mass, they only need to lose fat in particular. Losing lean mass is never a good thing.

The body eating away at its own lean mass because it isn't getting essential amino acids from any dietary source is what leads to death by starvation. It can turn to your fat stores for its energy needs, but not its protein needs.

Best because it is high in protein and not riddled with additives, but that has nothing to do with actually losing weight.
>A bit of fibrous greens alongside that, and you lose weight steadily.
By "fibrous greens" did you mean "nutritionally void trash that only your gut flora can digest, giving you gigantic shits and odorous farts along the way". Because that's what they are. You don't know what I'm talking about because you blindly accepted the shit doctors have been spewing since without even looking into the matter yourself. At best, all investigation into purely caloric diets have provided short-term benefits without any long-term improvements because the diet they try and enforce is so far removed from how people naturally eat that it results in people giving up after just a short while since they feel like shit while on those diets.

The diet I'm suggesting is the one that has proven to give the best results over the long term and was the generally accepted diet for weight loss up until the connection with Nazi science was first formed. Seriously, it sounds like shitty conspiracy theory bullshit, but outside of a bit of jive talking that's essentially how the current caloric diet taking precedence came about.

Which means those diets work assuming they will be stuck to, but people will not stick to them. I'm not interested in the mechanics of whether or not people will stick to their diets or not. I'm interested in what actually happens when they do, and it cannot be disputed that then, it's only an issue of how many calories they take in.

Protein is more satiating than other macronutrients. If you stuff yourself with mostly indigestible plant matter so that you can't fit anything in, you will also be satiated in way, preventing the actual overconsumption of calories. Combining these two things may help you cut down on calories, but that doesn't change the fact that you cutting down on calories is what most directly caused your weight loss.

>> No.9029926

I get the feeling I'm about to run across the same conversation I've had with nearly all of my friends on this matter.

Yes, calories are what you need to expend to cause weight loss and yes, eating less and exercising more will result in that. However, focusing on only that results in a diet so far away from a sustainable one that maintaining the diet is nearly impossible for most people. When you cut calories, your body will naturally have less energy to motivate your muscles, and you'll spend more time feeling lethargic and less willing to actually do anything which will expend calories, resulting in a net gain of calories over a higher-calorie higher-exercise diet. This doesn't mean eating absolutely anything will make you thin, but if you eat high-protein food with fibrous greens, you'll feel full for longer and also be naturally motivated to engage in more physical activities. Honestly, this shouldn't sound very odd.
