Warning: once self-destruct mode is set, it cannot be canceled.

Confirm order.

Self-destructs are the most stupid plot device ever.

OH BUT I DONT WANT MY SPACESHIP TO FALL INTO ENEMY HANDS!!!

Why, dipshit? If they wanted it, they'd take it on the ground. Not in space while the heroes are escaping with a 60 second countdown.

It's also an effective "fuck you," a core overload packs a lot more punch than just ramming your ship into the other dude's.

No Okuu, don't do it! I love you!

That reminds me of some old anime...

I dunno, it can be good if played right. It gets absurd though if it's a mechanism that can be activated without any security protocols or passwords.

SDF Macross ?

In Star Trek: Bridge Commander you could destroy your ship instantly by pressing ctrl + d anytime you wanted. No countdown or protests from your crew, just you blowing up your ship for no reason.

>> No.9024815

Uh, yes it can.

In Total Annihilation you could use the same to self-destruct any unit after a countdown. That would cause damage, and if it were a transport, it would kill what it was carrying too, such as enemy units.

The fact that some units were chock full of antimatter made this all the better.

I am imagining a very tiny Orin or Satori running through Okuu to shut down her core and keep her from killing herself. It is a very strange image.

>> No.9024882

I love those self destruct systems that start blowing up the thing they're installed on as soon as they start.
4 minutes until self destruct. As in, the ship is going to start exploding NOW, and it will take 4 minutes for it to completely destroy itself.
