Why is Perfect Cherry Blossom the only game with a Phantasm Stage?

>> No.9024121

Because Yukari.

>> No.9024129

He put too many characters in one game. I blame Ran.

I say ZUN made EoSD like a proper upgrade of the old games, but keeping most of the proper mechanics and storytelling (wich is the keyword here)

EoSD is in fact quite a lot like the older games in what characters mean, in fact you can find more charas in EoSD that resemble older games than in any other windows game.

PCB is the next step, to setup an expanded version. Asides from the Yuyuko -> Youmu relation that is basicly the same as Remi -> Sakuya... PCB offers new charas with diferent conditions compared to previous games.

having an extra stage was set and used in EoSD, what's next? going further. Phantasm. and as you can see, Phantasm stage is the sole stage that unlike other post game stages actually offers more explanations to the overall plot of the game, with yukari masterminding everything.

>>9024129
Why didn't ZUN make Ran the mid boss of Extra Stage? The protagonist ``bullies'' Chen during regular gameplay so there's no reason for her to appear twice.

Because of this there's this thing called the Lost Spellcard of PCB Demo. Remove them for more characters

Maybe he just wanted to link them together and show the hierarchy of the house, even though he could have done that easily through dialog. And he probably wanted Ran to be more of a big deal than just a random midboss.

>> No.9024265

aren't EX mid bosses just random people you'd normally find where the stage is at anyway?

they're usually related to the incident in some way, but not always.

can't see the problem with chen being there, she wanted to show her super shikigami powers

>> No.9024388

He put three of the best Touhous in one game. He couldn't give them shitty non-boss status, so he gave them each their own "final" stage.

I seriously think it's because they won't let themselves like the characters. Ten Desires was generally disliked, and people want to fit in. If these characters were from an earlier game, they'd be popular.

Poor Miko and the gang never got a chance

What's the average amount of time someone takes to complete the game on normal with sakuya A?
I don't mean, the amount of time, I mean, from just being a complete beginner, to being able to complete it.

It means how many credits (a credit is one set of lives, kind of a holdover from the arcade days) you use to finish the game.

To get the good ending you need to do it without continuing- that is, on one credit. This is no mean feat, in most cases.

>> No.9029950

I can't even complete the game, I end up using all my credits.

Not at all, keep at it. Practice mode and, if you're playing 8 or 13 (hope you're playing 8, it's a the smoothest introduction to the series) spellcard practice are your friends.

Easy modo is also an option, certain games let you have a good end with it (7,8,11 come to mind, not sure about others. 6 and 10 don't.) It's still the only way I've got a 1cc in anything. Gotta keep on improvin'.

9029997

Probably because storytelling. He wanted you to know this character is powerful, and that these characters are important. Ran could have just been an extra stage midboss, but by showing the relationship between her, Yukari, and Chen, there was more room for storytelling and character development. There really isn't enough time for either usually, it's always just Reimu smacktalk.

IN also had two stage 6's for the same reason - Think about extra stages for a moment. They usually aren't directly connected to the events of the main story. Flandre didn't spread the mist, Mokou didn't instigate the moon hiding, etc. But in IN both Eirin and Kaguya were responsible parties in the incident. There was also a strong dynamic between the two of them - It was intended to show they were both important and both reliant on each other.

>>9029950
No. Keep trying, some people can 1cc these games on the first try but most people just need practice.

I think the mastermind in PCB is Yuyuko. She asked Yukari to tear the border so she can gather more spring. It was stated in Reimu's ending or something.
