How /jp/ feel about Toonami coming back?

this

Never watched it to be honest. I didn't like watching dubbed anime back when I was 14 (already had most stuff subbed and fansubbed).

>> No.9022252

Indifferent.

>> No.9022255

Why would I want to watch old dubbed anime?

>> No.9022260

I don't give a fuck

>> No.9022281

I'd care about it if I had no other source to watch anime.

I only ever saw it when we went to Florida on vacation.

>> No.9022383

I feel its great.

Would be more relevant if it had more recent shows in the lineup instead of stroking nostalgia cock.

Its only good because it might make a anime boom again like the 90s.

>> No.9022410

Toonami was only good back then because the internet was still in its early days and not everybody had a computer. This will fail unless their "original programming" turns out to be something really really good.

There won't be another DBZ boom.

Anime is a lot more mainstream now than you think. I doubt this ancient block will spark any sort of revival.

This.
I'm not even going to be watching it to care.
What more, whatever they show I'm almost guaranteed to have seen it already.

>> No.9022446

big o might get season 3.
>>9022413
For the younger generations, they have no clue about anime, not sure if thats a good thing or not but if the next generations aren't all nerds like we turned out, it might go back to the jock age. these days are a lot better because mostly everybody from the 90s are a nerd in someway.

>> No.9022456

I don't have much interest if they don't have something new.

Big O was a really cool show. I didn't like it when it first aired because it seemed like a lame Batman, but I rewatched it later and it was a pretty well-done series with a lot of style. Directed by the same guy behind Lain, so it makes sense.

It was planned to have a season 3 but was canned... but yeah i didn't understand what was the big thing about big until i watched more than 3 eps, the underlining plot got better and better and there are still so many plot holes that need to be answered.

you just noticed tenchi muyo was the only harem to ever air on America tv. If we went so far as to even having a harem on tv, why did CN out of nowhere get sacred of having anime like it and going deeper. I think it was the president losing his job because of that bombing bullshit that ruined it all.

The president must of been some huge anime nerd who watched anime on vhs with fansubs, he was one of us and then because of adult swim, he got back stabbed. Its all adult swim fault in the end.

Toonami came about three years after I had already gotten into anime, so I pretty much skipped it all together. I've also always had a serious issue with low quality dubbing.

Then I stopped watching all together... Only recently have I started watching things here and there when I have time.

>> No.9022565

I guess it's fun and all for nostalgia but really I don't care about anime anymore.

Networks change, some get better some get worse. Same goes for everything in life. Getting upset about it is pointless, especially when nothing important was truly lost in the long run.

yeah but tv in general is going nowhere and is fucking done for. At least toonami might change that a bit. It was more about the feel of watching toonami then just watching anime. It was just a really cool set up and even with that later.. it made you feel that it was special. tv doesn't do that at all these days.

I kinda hope for the same, but I know better than to get my hopes up.

Ideally, they get a fucking clue and don't resume playing the same old shit they were playing when the ship sank. They're going to have to air shonen in order to hook a large audience, but it might be nice to see them draw from a larger palette.I'm pretty sure they could get away with showing PreCure in place of Sailor Moon. I'm not a big fan of One Piece, either, but that's a long ass shonen battle series that could probably keep the people expecting Dragon Ball Z happy.

I think the point is that it might rope in a large group of people again, who aren't so jaded by life on this planet that they can't go out and buy this shit. Which might breathe a little life into the industry and allow the studios to license decent shows with the revenue.
