The generally accepted theory for homosex is that it's an extra parent for nieces and nephews, and confers a bonus to fitness by giving them a higher chance of survival. Of course, in the modern world, it's pointless, but so are a MASSIVE number of traits. If it made it to the present day, it can only be right by nature's standards.

This isn't to say homosexuals are good, I find them disgusting, but they're in no way any worse for evolution than the rest of us.
