I would never let anyone die because the game downright told me it was a fucking clone and not the original. And if someone did i'd just reset the game and continue on from the last save.

That's the usual inconsistency of RPG with "resurrection" gimmicks. It's hard to explain why when some character definitively dies for plot reasons cannot be resurrected like usual. Or why Harry Potter couldn't use the damn timeturner to save Syrius Black.
