A while ago I remember seeing an illustration that a figure was based of. The figure name, as well as the more obvious details have escaped my mind.

I remember part of the description for the figure being something like "Now you can release (character) into the real world with this figure" or something silly like that.
The figure itself was a loli (I think) wearing a straw hat. The illustration was basically the same, but on a beach. I think she had long, orange or light brown hair.

The closest resemblance to the above is the picture I attached, but the figure was standing up and wasn't nude.

Sorry for the loose description, I tried searching around and found nothing. You're my last hope, /jp/.

The only reason alter is good is because they have decent paint jobs and quality control, what you see is what you get. They're pretty mediocre sculpts though. Other figure makers are way better than alters in craft but the retail product is not as good as product pictures.

If other companies would just pay their chinks a bit more and tighten the quality control, they'd be considered good too. I hate when a good sculpt goes to waste because they couldnt finish painting it right.

Honestly, though, I don't think you would. It's better to play honest, hold and save the money you'd use on 2 or even 3 figs, to get that old and beautiful one you really want (wich is what I've done). Now, sometimes, and against all expectations, some of them DO get a re-run; the one in the pic, for instance, and after months of considering it, I got it for about 3 times its original value; the thing is, two days later, a re-run was announced; I felt really dumb...

But in the end, when I got it my hands, I felt utterly happy and thought that, atm, I made the right decision: it's better not to count with dubious variables, and to grab what you want while you still can as you learn to be selective. In the longer run, however, it's better to have a humbler but VERY dear collection, than a larger one you won't love as much. Or so I think.

Just a dab of some generic superglue.

And it turns out it wasn't broken. The tip is a seperate piece that was meant to be glued in place by the end user. Many other pre-painted gathering figures have small pieces that sometimes need to be glued in place like this.

I have another gathering catgirl who's ahoge hair piece was like this. It is a seperate piece that needed to be glued on bcause it would not have survived shipping.

Just look up guides for how to paint Gundam models, the same sort of techniques apply in this case.

But you need an airbrush for that, airbrushes are easier to paint with where as a paintbrush needs decent skill to achieve a good finish that isn't too thick.
