I heard that you can't replace batteries in the Vita, and you can't ship batteries overseas.

Does this mean we can't get one?

You can replace the battery easily if you have a precision phillips screwdriver set.

No idea about what you said about shipping batteries overseas and why it prevents from importing it.

Some Game Informer article said if the batteries were irreplaceable, and if it goes bad, you have to purchase a new Vita. (Context was Vita's "cons".)

A Japanese eBay seller for a brand new Miku PSP3000(?) said the PSP battery can't be shipped overseas so it'd sent without it.

If batteries are irreplaceable and can't be sent overseas, then the Vita would come unplayable. If both those are true, I haven't researched it. Thanks for your reply, do you own a Vita?

Batteries can be shipped overseas from japan, via private services like FedEx. You just have to be specific about the shipping method.

Sorry about the slow answer.

It was probably during the time short before release when there was a lot of especulation (lots of them false) about the vita.

Never heard in my life anything about not being able to ship battery overseas (and also my vita is imported). And it's not like the batteries of vitas are different across regions, though technical support should be tricky in those cases.
