I miss dithered, early 90's graphics.

It makes me think of a time when women had thick, full, unshaven bush. Playing games from that era make me feel like I'm back in those days where any woman's pantsu I could pull down, I can stick my face into a wonderful, thick, fragrant dark forest.

OP, this is a problem with /jp/ in general. It's mostly kids who were probably still in elementary school when /jp/ was created.

Wherever the 25-30+ crowd went, they're not here, and I wish I could find out where they went. /jp/ reaching /b/-level shitposting on a smaller scale and it being full of badly behaved manlets is not a coincidence. The original age of 4channers was college aged, not high school aged.

Maybe there are forums out there or something that are about otaku culture, but aren't shit like here.

26 and I'm still here.
I'm afraid that it's not that the older posters have left, since there's no clear replacement for something like /jp/. It's more that we're becoming more quiet. We don't speak up in meta because we've already discussed everything to death, and frankly it's a bit ridiculous to talk about how the board is dying when you were having the same discussions 3 years ago.
The shitposters are still not the majority here. Just as always, they're the only ones rude enough to spam their threads all over the board while decent people prefer to keep quiet and only post when they have something to contribute. The problem is that it's creating an environment where bad threads are encouraged since there's so little we can do about them.

This is just my personal opinion and I'm aware I might be projecting too much of my own experience to the rest of the older posters I used to share good times with. But it's a theory that explains why we've left a handful of kids rule the front page.

It would be really nice if we could have 'classic' threads that talk about something other than just what has been released in the last few years. I think that would probably be a good way for adult posters to enjoy talking amongst themselves.

Since most of /jp/'s most active posters and shitposters seem to be high school kids, we should talk about stuff that was released before they would have gotten into the culture, which probably in 2012 means anything before, say, 2006 to be safe.

Age has nothing to do with it. I'm 18 (and I never admit my young age online although this will be an exception) but I seem to have this delusional way of thinking that almost everything, including games, music, TV shows, anime, durability of computer hardware, etc., was better in the 80s and 90s. I love cute girls doing cute things (Minami-ke) and I'm really getting sick of these low quality shows like A-channel,Yuri Yuri, and Kill me baby.

I want more stuff like a Hanasaku Iroha (Even though the pacing was bad) or something in a different genre.

It's understandable that neo-/jp/ would like those series but the concerns of experienced fans of the strange direction anime is going are warranted.

Someone can say he liked Kiki's Delivery Service and still be in good standing with society but say you like a post-2005 series such as haganai or Milky Holmes and after a quick wiki, you'll carry the stigmata of creepy, jobless, deviant, and mentally ill.

Upper mid 20s here. I am probably gonna be a wizard in a few years time. When you are old you dont really care or give a fuck about anything anymore. It is just shitposting, who give a shit.
It is not that the old people left, the taste start to change with age.
Sure when I was still young I might like action shows like escaflowne and stupid shounen stuff like kenshin, death note or hunter x hunter. But you grew out of it and guess what was the most popular stuff circa 2005 in here, rozen maiden, azumanga and touhou.
It is not surprising to see milky holmes, keion, yuru yuri being loved by people here.
Saten is the exception to this. I still have no idea why she is so popular? Is it because she is lvl0 loser slut that /jp/ can identify with?

Take off the nostalgia goggles.

I respect older shows for giving us what we have today, but I also appreciate the fact that we still have so many shows to watch now. If you judged older anime with the same biased eye that you're doing to modern anime, you would be quick to find that it's just as "shit". Entertainment like this should always be evaluated individually. Generalizations like "all shows past X are shit" only impede on your own enjoyment, really.

At any rate, I'm sure they'll love you over at /a/.

>Saten is the exception to this. I still have no idea why she is sopopular?
She really wasn't that popular at all, and was rarely posted about ever until about late, mid-season Railgun anime.

Up until then it was mainly one guy who repeatedly posted about Saten on /a/, declaring her as his waifu and he kept whining about how no one else posted about her even thugh she was "so great and wonderful" supposedly.

And he just kept making threads like that, over and over again, and I even think he was banned. People were commonly annoyed by his re-occuring whining/waifu tributing, as he just kept posting it over and over again like spam.

Then the shitposters caught on to the whole thing, and started imitating the guy, spamming threads themselves about Saten for added effect, in order to shitpost with minimal effort. And then it just spread to /jp/ from there.

It's almost a biit funny really. Just take a look on /jp/'s archive and search for "Saten" while sorting the oldest posts first, and then you look over at /a/'s archive one month prior/after that date. It should contain most of it all.
And I apologize if any actual fan might read this, but just face it, Saten's history on 4chan is sullied by heaps and heaps of trolling and shitposting by people who don't give a shit about her.

I laughed heartily.
