I loved Metal Slug 2, or whichever one was the one where you fought the Nazis only to discover their leader was an alien, then you join forces to attack the alien army.

That cinematic where you're launched into space by your former enemies, and in the background you see all the other rockets launching and then being shot down, was pretty awesome.

Also goddamn when your character is captured and cloned into an army.

I felt the rest of the games never had the same sort of impact.
