How does he make money?

Is Touhou Project free (legally)?

>> No.8946769

He has a job.

>> No.8946775

He sells the games at Comiket and has a few merchandising deals. He used to work for Taito, but I think Touhou is his full-time thing now.

Imagine that you make CDs that cost 200 yen to make.
You sell them at 500 yen.
Then you sell them by the thousands.
You always sold out and have to reprint because your fans love it.
Your fans also pay for your drinks as if you were their own personal savior.
Touhou manga also solds out and has to reprint.

Touhou is not free in Japan, and he sells about 20,000 copies every time he releases a game. (and that's just release day). I think they're about $30/$40 each.

>> No.8946783

He said on Twitter a couple of years ago that he got a non-Touhou job, but he didn't say what it was. Nor should he, really.

At this point he is more popular and successful than any of those companies anyway.

I don't think you know what you're talking about.

He makes thousands in shrine donations alone.
