In general, the project is being held a bit back until all of our schedules free up. The only reason I decided to update is because I think I can rush out the prologue patch before summer hits. I'll be out relatively late from school compared to most of my team and we're busy at the moment with stuff, so full-time translation hasn't been done yet.

If I can get it to you guys before June, with the quality I think is acceptable, it will be released ahead of what I've announced for the prologue patch release date. Otherwise, it will be held back a bit.

Pic related. The other hacker for the project tested the patch out on his TV and it looks readable, so that should quell hopefully any concerns on that.

Would it actually work well in Chinese?

As I understand, there's a Chinese translation out there, and I'm somewhat better at Chinese than Japanese.

Depends on whether the Kanji shares their meaning with their Chinese equivalents, I guess.

Here's an example:

You can make VN engine as complex as you want to, but the core functionality of VN engine (which is overlaying sprites on backgrounds and printing some text lines on top of it while playing voices on top of BGM) isn't difficult to implement even if writing from scratch instead of using an already available one.
Writing scripts isn't significantly different from writing a text document, just with adding VN engine commands here and there. For example:
http://tlwiki.org/index.php?title=TL01A01_TL01A17.txt
Common VN engines are nScripter and Kirikiri for Japanese VNs, Ren'Py for OELVNs. Novelty seems to stall in beta, as does ViLE. All of them are free to use.

TL;DR: bump

Remember 'Quartett!'?

No, you probably don't, but Quartett!'s project was stalled for four years and considered permanently dropped (its members having, apparently, left the scene and moved on to bigger and better things), when all of a sudden it was spontaneously released.

Air is about as sure a bet as Rewrite, at this point.

Me either, his points here are valid, although that isn't too surprising as between aaeru and Moogy, I'm more likely to agree with Moogy on most issues.

I am interested though in seeing Moogy release something though, simply to see what he considers a good translation, even though I expect it to be a good deal below the better fan translators out there.

That results in a delay of one game and him getting fired, not like a fan translation where no one can touch him for such a decision.
