Dogs > cats

Dogs are loyal, friendly, playful, respectful and don't shed as much hair or trigger allergic reactions as much as cats. Cats are too independent, they don't give a shit about your furniture, they aren't playful, they normally don't like to be held or stroked, etc.

Cats are shit tier. Don't worry, you can rationalize your ownership of a pet in this thread, OP. I won't make you feel too bad about your poor taste.

Jumps on your bed in the morning, wakes you up.
Licks your face happily.
Wants to play with you and be your friend.
Goes outside and shit on the garden or something.
Comes back inside, lays in the sun or on your blankets or furniture with you.
Brings its toys to you to play fetch.
Instinctively know when you're feeling down, will try to cheer you up and be inquisitive.
Want to go on walks with you.

Cats:
Do their own thing, pretend you don't exist.
Shits and pisses in a box in your house that stinks.
Look at you like you're retarded when they want to go outside, expecting you to understand what they want.
Stay out at all hours, unpredictable sometimes.
Don't like to be stroked.
Will look at you like you're weird if you want them to come to you for some attention.
Sleeps most of the time, and is generally uninteresting.
Spends its outside time sitting on fences or walls sleeping or looking at birds.

Jee this sure is a hard decision.

Most loved fetch, I had some who simply couldn't spend a second not being on me, and being stroked, were super affectionate, and much better than the dogs I had at trying to cheer people up. As for the litter box thing, that's more convenient for someone who doesn't want to go outside, you'd have to take a dog out a few times a day, whereas a litterbox can go for as long as a week at a time.

Some cats do this just fine. I had a cat that would stroll about the neighborhood for hours at a time, pick fights with full grown big ass dogs and win. She was tough as nails, and had a bit of scarring to prove it. When we moved she didn't get to go out, and there weren't really many animals around. One day I let her out and she doesn't come back. Two or three days after I find her outside my door and take her. She died in my lap, right there in the kitchen, because of bugs or some shit. I really do miss that cat.

Out of the dozens of cats that I've stroked or owned or been near, less than half of them have ever been interested enough to even come near me when trying to initiate contact with them. At most, they brush themselves on your hand as they walk past.

Where as dogs are far more open and playful. They'll sit next to you and spend hours letting you stroke their belly while they lick you. I've never really had big dogs, though. They can be more of a handful but still way less assburgers than cats.

There are two types of cats, cats who never go outside, and cats who were born outside.

If you take in a stray, you could let it wander around all it wants and it will still come back and spend a lot of time around the house.

If you take a cat that has never set foot outside and let it loose, it will likely never come back if it gets away.

Yeah, they're pretty quiet. But watch them hunt to feed.

Well, this species of spiders are well known for being passive and to bite rarely.

And the really scary ones are the fast ones. Pic related.

That .gif is absolutely horrifying.
Which in itself is rather amusing considering how most spiders considered "aggressive" are way more afraid of us than we are of them.

Now, I don't know anyone who has one personally, so can't tell for sure but perhaps you know. I've been told people who keep cobalt blue tarantulas, earth tigers or baboon spiders affectionately refer to them as "pet holes" because they are outright afraid of open spaces and all you ever see of them is the burrow. Which is kind of ironic for species where the big pet appear is in exotic appearance.

>cobalt blue tarantulas
I've heard these are extremely aggressive.

And indeed, there are species of spiders that come out of their trap-door holes only to hunt and to procreate. But nevertheless, they can be drawn outside by releasing live insects / small rodents, etc. near the opening.

But yeah, spiders may not be as fun as a dog or a cat, but they need almost no maintenance. And they aren't neither smelly nor noisy.
