The other day, I left the house and went to a mall. It's the first time I've been to a shopping mall in a really long time. They had a Hot Topic there, and when I walked by I noticed that they were displaying a bunch of tshirts with 4chan memes. A lot of those memes, I can remember being one of the posters in the original thread where they were born. It's a really weird feeling, I can't really say whether it makes me happy to know that something I helped to create has grown to become such mainstream pop culture, or sad because the fact that it's now seen as being so mainstream has driven away a lot of the original people who created the jokes and humor in the first place.
