So I finally downloaded The Embodiment of Scarlet Devil.

Started playing on Easy just because of how much people made touhou's difficulty out to be.

What the fuck is wrong with you fucking pussies. I beat the game in what couldn't be anymore than 15-20 minutes with no continues on my very fucking first try with Marisa.

I'll play it again with Reimu to see how she fares and then move on to harder difficulties, but so far this doesn't seem all that challenging.

I can't believe you assholes just recommended Embodiment of Scarlet Devil to that poor Anonymous as his first Touhou game. What the fuck, do you want more people to hate this series or what? EoSD LOOKS LIKE SHIT and has the least inspired patterns and mechanics of all the Windows games, not to mention it's tied for the lowest amount of characters too. And you shouldn't have even mentioned the PC-98 ones because only 5 people on Earth have, or want, a PC-98 emulator.

Imperishable Night, Perfect Cherry Blossom, Mountain of Faith, any one of those would have been a ten times better choice. They look more polished and professional, they have more content (in case of the first two) and they have more inspired and interesting mechanics.

OP is right. My ten year old kid brother 1CC's EoSD Easy on his first try and complained how easy it was.

People give a lot of shit to Imperishable Night about how easy its easy modo is, but that's just because they, like 99% of people, forgot that EoSD even HAD an easy mode. EoSD Easy is by far the easiest mode of any Touhou game ever, including PoFV Easy. It's just that in EoSD you're practically forced to play on Normal or higher because you miss out on an entire stage otherwise (not to mention you cannot get a good ending on Easy).

You need to remap the controls using the config utility (the config utility doesn't work in XP unless you use W2K compatibility mode) and lower the difficulty setting. Then you can learn the basics without getting raped up the shitchute.

Also, do not even try to use Alice until you have beaten the game a few times, Alice is ridiculously hard for beginners because about 95% of her moves cannot hit an opponent that's close to her.
