Storytelling has been a big part of 4chan since forever. If you people had your way, we would never have had Nurse-kun, Blindmute Loli, Tramp Anon, or a whole bunch of kopipe and interesting stories. And these don't just stem from /b/, they come from all boards.

If someone "blogs" and it's uninteresting, don't respond. That's how online discussion works. Pointing out you dislike something is basically the same as the "blogging" you're all complaining about.

Of course they're not perfect, and you can't satisfy 4chan with anything. For every person who wants a serious, objective account of a board devoid of memes or humor, there is someone who basically wants an Encyclopedia Dramatica article complete with a meme density that is over 9000.

I like them because they're sensible and if I was new to /jp/ I think this would help me be a good poster. It reminds me of those old newsgroup FAQs in a way. Of course I would still prefer a blank page with nothing but, "LURK THE FUCK MORE." in flashing red letters.

This applies even now.

Some of my favorite threads on /jp/ have been the off-the-wall ones about which philosophy we agree with or what other hobbies we have or whatever. It's only when there's a flood of these threads it becomes a problem, and that's when you start reporting. If your tolerance is at absolute zero, you should just leave because imageboards (especially 4chan) aren't for you. In no circumstance should you just start flaming and complaining at people. Maybe you think the "report system doesn't work", but neither does yelling at people. You are not going to make the threads disappear, you are just going to frustrate yourself.

Now go get a cold glass of milk, put on your /jp/ radio, and enjoy the evening.
