I come to you with a request /jp/...

I'm looking for a decent documentary on the Hikikomori movement that has been happening recently that isn't too long (about 10 mins). Also, I need it to be in English and for it to be clear (I need it for an English class).

It would be great if it covered the movements causes, and its expansion westward. What do you suggest?

Wha? There's a movement?

I think most hikkis don't like moving around a lot. There was no "expansion" westward, hermits aren't new.

Well, one thing that might be hindering your youtube search is that this phenomenon isn't generally seen as a positive thing, even by its participants. It's considered a social problem like drug use or people dropping-out of school (which of course is something necessarily involved in being a hikki, watch Rozen Maiden.) Anyway it's not a social movement, so if you're using the term "movement" I can't imagine you're gonna find much. Or at least not much that isn't authored by SA rejects as part of some "trolling" project.

Well, I'm looking for a decent one that I can use as a listening. I remember seeing a BBC one a while back, but I can't seem to find it.

Japan: The Missing Million?

One-shot documentaries like this can often be found on thebox.bz. It's a seekrit klub private tracker but I think sign-ups are open. Also there's a transcript here:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/spl/hi/programmes/correspondent/transcripts/2334893.txt
(I don't know why)

Seems to be about 40-50 minutes long, but you could easily edit that down. But only if it's for educational, non-commercial use and not for resale or rent.
