GEDs are for people who can no longer return to a high-school. Say you were 15 and hadn't even completed the 9th grade, you can still go back and finish high-school even though you will be like, what 20? when you graduate. Once you hit 18, though, unless you have like one year left to go, you're done. It's time for you to look toward GED instead.

In California you can't even take the GED test unless you are 18+, OR (under 18) have gone to a GED class with a Principal's, your parent's and some school district guy's authorization. that's usually for kids who cant attend a high-school schedule for whatever reasons. ie: they're naughty kids or they're bullied or other nonsense (my case: mental illness)
