How much of a handyman is /jp/?

I like to go what we call in this building a eletronics dumpster room and pick up random eletronics and repair them, my most recent find was a "broken" PS1 which just required a lens realignment.

I wish I was a handygirl ;_;.

>> No.8809782

Why the hell would you repair a PS1?

Why the hell not?

That sounds already out of my bonds
lens realignment...

do you have the tools for that or is it that easy?

The only thing my useless neet ass can do is suck my own cock.

I can assemble a computer. I once assembled an NES for myself as a kid in the early 90s from a bunch of junked systems and a nintendo hardware guide at an uncle's video game rental shop. Kind of sad that he died and nobody continued the business, he was a pretty cool guy.

Its easy all you need is the basic stuff like screwdrivers more or less you just reseat if sometimes, you do not even need to take it apart.

>> No.8809802

I have broken everything I have ever disassembled.

you're a made man
I wish I was you

This angers me cause it reminds me that my heroin addict sister stole my ps1 and 2.

Now the "worst" thing about searching for broken eletronics is that infact what most people throw is perfectly working ones.

I found one of those SONY Professional Studio Monitors 28" perfectly working that supports lowres such as 15khz.

My PS1 doesnt do anything except make a buzzing sound when you power it on
do you think that is fixable?

Now this might sound stupid but have you tried another hookup cable?

>> No.8809839

Stop living in the past and just emulate it on your computer or PSP.

I thought about trying that, but I should hear the disk spinning at least, right? Not even the disk spins, just that sound

>> No.8809866

>>8809855
What version is your PS1?

The early ones suffered from the optical block collapsing which would result in the disc not being able to spin now the old 90s fix was to turn the have the ps1 running upside down not kidding you give it a shot.

I just modded my PSP 1000 to be able to charge via USB yesterday.

I make swords and sword accessories.

Also had to try to fix the ancient electric sander I'm using to make this, now that was a hell of an endeavour. Took it apart at least seven times, figured out what was going wrong by poking about near everything with a voltmeter, tried crazy shenanigans that unfortunately shorted and almost melted the motor, then finally realized I could've just fixed the whole mess if I'd just hit it in a certain way whenever it stopped working.

At least I sorta figured out what was wrong though.

I can dissamble anything, not like i can assemble shit but hey at least i can. do something.

Inspect for mechanical issues.
Check PSU voltages.
LA the databus and verify CPU reset and first instruction fetch.
Scope the pickup and check the eye pattern and focus/tracking signals.

How the heck are Spaniards related to swords.

I'm so scatterbrained I end up building shit and forgetting what it was for.

Though I must say I have some pretty awesome homemade stuff.

Are you serious? there is a long tradition of sword craftmanship in Spain. Toledo steel has a world famous reputation of quality only equaled by Damascus steel.
