Ready for what?
I cannot into runes, so I'm not going to enjoy this VN until someone will translate it.
It's also pricey as shit (in fact more expensive than Diablo III collector's edition) and there's nothing but a disk and small artbook with screenshots from VN.

The only actual argument you have there is that it may be only a "few" hours long. There's no reason to consider it a side-story (in fact, there's every reason to not consider it that, since it was Nasu's first novel or something close). And there's no conclusive proof (yet) that it's "pretentious garbage". I know you're probably incapable of not jumping to conclusions, but the fact is that it's not proven yet. It is possible that it would be good despite any length problems.

>> No.8784504

Could it be that I'm the only one who thinks that "no voices" is actually better than "voiced", and that choices and sex scenes are entirely optional shit? The only thing i have doubts about is the lenght, as well as the fact that at this rate Type-Moon won't ever do anything "new", but whatever.

I prefer no voices, and it's true that Nasu's ero is pretty much irrelevant. So I suppose you're not alone on that. I think Nasu's reasoning for no voices was for the experience, and I do think there's more impact without them.

>> No.8784531

Voices are more a matter of principle than anything else.
Especially since now it's not uncommon for even doujin VNs to be fully voiced.
And it's not like TM doesn't have more than enough money to do a great job in terms of voice acting.
Especially as it's not like it's a gargantuan task to allow people to disable voices if they so wish.

And quite honestly, I'll be surprised if Mahoyo doesn't have an enhanced version/console port out in 2 years or so with voices and the like, with how it's shaping up.

Wouldn't it be the other way around? A poor company choosing not to have voices would likely be because they're trying to save money and maximize profit, but when it's a company with a large budget like Type-Moon the decision would more likely be for other reasons.

A poor company (and therefore probably unpopular or a new one) likely couldn't afford the loss of sales from not including voices, as it's pretty much industry standard.
Even first titles from new companies are generally have at least the female characters voiced, depending on the game type, even if they're done by not as popular VAs.

Mahoyo is revolutionary. For years, I'd suspected Type-Moon of sitting on their collective asses doing nothing, but when I read the trial, I noticed how wrong I was. Even if it's short, it will still be amazing. I wonder how it will affect the rest of the industry.

FSN sold better than Extra. And even than, Extra is still pretty much a VN. There is also the fact if they make a new, original work, they can then create a whole slew of stuff based off it. Anime, figs, novels, spinoff games, etc.

You need to take development costs into consideration too. Who cares if Mahoyo doesn't sell as good as Extra or whatever? How much do you think it costs them to make a VN with no voice acting or anything, and with the scenario already written out in an old book? It certainly can't cost as much as it does do make an anime or a PSP game with gameplay mechanics and everything.

If Mahoyo sold a lot, I believe they'd start thinking, "Hey, these fans eat up anything we shit out! Let's keep this up!"

>> No.8793028

Yeah, except Mahoyo actually cost a lot to produce, and for VNs, Type-Moon has to pay it all. For anime or mainstream games, it's simply a matter of giving a different company the license and letting the cash roll in.

>except Mahoyo actually cost a lot to produce
I have a hard time believing that. How exactly could a short VN, with no VA, no multiple scenario writers, a general plot that is already written, cost a lot to make? There is no way it costs near as much as big titles like Rewrite, Steins;Gate, etc. And if it did in fact cost so much, then they have some serious issues.

>it's simply a matter of giving a different company the license and letting the cash roll in.
Yea except they don't get all the money from licensed works. A decent chunk of the cash from anime goes to the animation studio for example.

And even if you were right, why would that stop them from making VNs? You're saying TM just gives the license and doesn't have to invest at all themselves, so why can't they just keep doing that whilst making VNs? It's essentially a win-win for them. Make good, new VNs that sell, whilst other companies make spinoff entries that sell. Then other companies can make anime etc of their new VNs meaning even more money.
