Post your IP if you are hosting followed by world location (with continent and area is ok, I.E Western europe) and your own "tier" if you feel like to.

About the game:
(shamelessly copied from the wiki)
Touhou Hisoutensoku is the third fighting game in the Touhou Project and like its predecessors, Immaterial and Missing Power and Scarlet Weather Rhapsody, Touhou Hisoutensoku is a collaboration between ZUN and Twilight Frontier. Due to that collaboration, its art was drawn by Alphes and the music was composed by U2 Akiyama, both from Twilight Frontier.

Download link:

Hisoutensoku + 1.10 patch + english patch:
http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/6424899/Touhou_Hisoutensoku_12.3___1.10___English_Patch

For playing online it's recommended to have the latest version, 1.10a which you can find the patches for here:

http://hisouten.koumakan.jp/

Optionally there is also a Voice mod found here:

I totally disagree, while both systems are pretty good, IaMP and SWR/Soku, some innovation can be good, it's risky because it can be broken and shitty, but it's better than always the same crap. The main reason why the Touhou series is fun, it's because it adds new systems to each STG, some are good, like most of them and some are total fails like TD trance or IN deathbombs or MoF bombing system.

Yeah. If you're going to dislike UNL, a much more valid reason is the overly defensive and floaty gameplay

Also, I wish most of the spellcards weren't completely awful. Seriously, most characters only have, like, three or four good spellcards, tops, and the rest are either situational at best or useless at worst

And well, you could argue about the defensive part. It's much easier to stay on your defense in Soku, but in IaMP, the neutral game is much more based on spamming and grazing until you manage to close in. I believe Soku to be much more offensive in that aspect, because, even though the stage is bigger, spamming is generally not a very good option.

>>8781734
>You're wrong on the spoiler part

I'm really not. Most spellcards are simply a liability to use due to how highly punishable they are and the way the graze system works, or only work off of one or two combos anyway. Truly good spellcards are either reversals (like Alice's Trip Wire), HUGE damage enhancers that work well with either a variety of combo openings OR work well with a very safe move (such as Meiling's True Radiant Rainbow Fist), or ones that fundamentally change the battlefield (such as Utsuho's Subterranean Sun or, indeed, most of Yukari's spellcards). All other spellcards are simply chafe

In fact, honestly, Utsuho and Yukari got most of the good spellcards period. I can't really think of a character that has as many genuinely useful spellcards as them

>> No.8781855

Well, if you don't want to count combos, then most spellcards really become crap.
But, for example, Reimu has only two spellcards that are not practical, and those are the lv3 laser-thing and Fantasy Heaven. Every single one of her other spellcards has its uses, and they are not bad at all.

And funny of you for mentioning Trip Wire, it's a pretty terrible spellcard imo, the damage is bad unless you get it to hit in specific places or have like four dolls out. I myself don't use it, I'd rather use a Hangeki or a bomb.

Say a character and I'll tell you the uses of the spellcards, most of them are very easy and pratical

I just realized that a much better example of what I was trying to say here would be her Star Pulse Earth-Moving Shot. Sigh, so many post edits

>Utsuho and Yukari got most of the good spellcards period. I can't really think of a character that has as many genuinely useful spellcards as them.
uhmmm Remi cards? I mean seriously they combo into anything, her chains card does incredibly high chip damage and guardbreaks if the opponent dares to guard, her gugnirs are lightining fast and do 3500 damage and 4200 damage, her crosses are reversal with huge hitbox and as fast as the gugnirs. Also Youmu cards are pretty useful due to guardcrush, unblockables, combo, grazing, etc... . Suika Is another spellcard powerhouse with very useful reversal damaging spellcards, only having them higlighted makes most opponents be careful, as with Remi spellcards, they do some psychological damage to your rival apart from the huge damage output if they connect.
Worst spellcards belong to Marisa IMO, slow startup, airblockable, grazeable, etc... The only good thing those have is the damage output.

By the way Honshu I recommend you using that alice spellcards that sends a lot of explosive dolls, It does a huge amount of damage in corner and guardbreaks, it can help you keep the corner pressure that is where you game style fails a bit.

>Trip Wire, it's a pretty terrible spellcard imo, the damage is bad unless you get it to hit in specific places or have like four dolls out

I'm sorry, but I have difficulty accepting the validity of your opinion after this. A reversal that is incredibly cheap on top of doing upwards of 2-3k damage with good doll placement, which is the entire fundamental of Alice to begin with? Bad?

And, really, let's be honest. If you're not leveling her default 22BC, you don't know how to play Alice. It's her absolute best move, bar none

But for the sake of me being able to contribute intelligent dialogue, let's go ahead and try to discuss the usefulness of, say, Alice's spellcards

Nightmare mode: Find something worth saying outside of Return Inanimate and Holland Doll. I feel quite confident in saying that Return Inanimate, Holland Doll, and Trip Wire are her only good spellcards

That leaves Remi with 5 useful cards out of 10, maybe 6 if you count Millenium vampire can combo early and do 2000 damge that you heal at the same time, and will leave you with 5 extra seconds where you heal 1:1 the damage dealt. IMO only Remi useless cards are her three cradles and her stretch, those can combo too, but are not reversal, they are slow and the damage output isn't that good if you combo them due to prorration.

And also, I really like Seeker Wire, even though the default skill is also great. SP Dolls are very good for crushing, too.
There's not only your way to play Alice, you know? It's not like you're some kind of Alice master.

Anyways, on to the Spellcards
>Artful Sacrifice
You can combo it from 2a 3a 236b, use it after Return Inanimate to deal nice damage, use it to bait a dash, then 2a and the opponent will eat it, and use it in some situational blockstrings

>Little Legion
An excellent spellcard that easily combos and does good damage, is also very good for blockstrings

>Shanghai doll
Very fast, combos easily both in the ground and in the air, can be used in blockstrings too, since it deals 2 spirit orbs of damage

>Seeker Dolls
HUGE spirit damage, enormous area, can be used with Little Legion and alt 214 Thousand Spear Dolls to create a basically unavoidable Crush string

>Trip Wire
You know it, reversal, situationally good damage, can be used in the air, potentially enormous hitbox, etc.

>Return Inanimate
One of Alice's best spellcards, air unblockable, combos easily from anything, good damage. Not much to say, just do something and throw it and it'll likely hit

>Futuristic Hourai
It's shit. Seriously. You can use it in some random combo and explode it or try to do something else, but it's very unlikely you'll be able to use it for anything

>> No.8781929

>>8781923
>Doll's War
Damage isn't very high, but it's a reversal and got a big range. Trip Wire is better, but this can catch some people off guard.

>Hourai Doll
VERY fast, combos from 214 Thousand Spear Dolls as well as almost anything you do. Instant horizontal range, meaning it's even easier to combo from hits. Also does nice damage.

>Holland Doll
Instantly controls the field in your favor, even though it goes away quickly. Maybe some nice damage if your opponent manages to throw itself into the spellcard or you can do a nice string. It was better before, imo.

>Cutey Greater Thousand Spears
Damage is very low, but combos from virtually anything, even 66b and f.5a

>Lemming's Parade
Freaking enormous damage, you can use it in some blockstrings, combos easily from most counterhits, 66c near the corner, 2a 3a 236b

Well, those are my two cents

I don't really see value in most of Alice's spellcards because she needs to shore up her weaknesses of Oh God There's An Enemy Inside My 6A Range, OH GOD and take advantage of her amazing zoning as best she can in order to survive. It's nonsense to waste most of your deck on doing situational damage when I could have four dolls spinning around the map and eight reversal cards, in my opinion

I am sort of experimenting with decks that involve her spellcards more, but so far I haven't really liked the results

That's what it's suppose to be anyway.

It just so happens that a lot of people get butthurt over the idea that they're not right.

You could, however, be a bit more open to other ideas. I learned the hard way that Alice has more than her default 22.

And one problem with reversal cards is that they can be baited; like everything else, and be more of a nuisance than a saving grace.

Just think about these things. You'll be doing yourself a disservice by taking certain things for granted.

It is actually pretty good, but it's easy to bait and avoid since it's a superarmor spellcard instead of a reversal, I wouldn't recommend it if you're not experienced.

About skills, default 623 is great at lv1+, because it gets a huge bullet hitbox
Scarlet Inch Crunch is pretty crap, but it rapes on Diamond Dust. Tiger's Strength is pretty good buff, but having the default 623 is much better

Default 214 get's a step hitbox at lv3, it adds to the comboability, but it's not that good. Still, 214 is a graze attack and air unblockable
Both alt 214s are really good too, Searing Red Fist combos from 2a and Descending Flower Slam is air usable and good for combos

Default 22 hits low, that's about it
Sky Dragon Kick is great and does very good damage, Earth Dragon Wave is quick and is great for blockstrings

Default 236 is pretty bad, but the hitbox becomes huge at higher levels
Shui Xing Tai Ji Quan absorbs bullets and even some spellcards, it's good against spamming opponents. Colorful Rain does a lot of damage and spirit damage, but it's hard to use properly

Maybe she wasn't in that tournament, Remi has a weakness in soku against Yuyuko, Okuu and Suika due to the inability to graze continuous barrages. But she is still the msot deadly againt all those o close quarters, so it depends heavily of the ability of the user to get to use her properly, she normally is focused on punishing and making the foe make mistakes, while against those 3 it's backwards, she is the one that must make no mistakes. Tenshi's probably got the most versatile spellcard set. Enormous super armor card, two flavors of reversals (though both are kinda finicky and punishable, and not at all usable against Alice), a couple of weird utility ones like the weather-sealing sword, and of course a gigantic fucking pseudo-reversal laser which I love and use too much.

Sakuya doesn't have nearly as many interesting ones; a couple of ones that are useful for punishing full across the screen, a few for gaining momentum, and lol Eternal Meek. (You want guard crush? 2 card guard crush with a braindead setup in the corner! You want combo damage? Better combo damage than the 3 card Red Soul! You want to make your eyes turn red and glowy? GGs W2, you are still too aggresive, also marisa's butt is easy counterable and it becomes predictable.
You have to keep the corner pressure not swap positions with your opponent, half of the times when you cornered me you dashed and jumped leaving me free to just dash forward and swap positions, leaving you in the corner.
Marisa is a mid distance character by the way, on most of the matches you just stayed far away and spam lasers, Marisa mid distance cover herself with stars then melee, lasers must be counters, and preferably only use the airborne.
This said, It was fun, sorry if I made you mad.

Suwako is not that weak of a character, it's just that her strongest point is in her pressure, moving away from your opponent with her is rather counterproductive since she does have rather limiting movement.

Yeah, the overall delay wasn't that bad, it's just the problem with wireless connections that the delay keeps constantly changing so you really can't get used to a delay when it keeps jumping up and down

GGs Idler. Seriously, I always feel slow and dumb when I play against you. I fail too much at inputs, always fall into your traps, and I fail at chaining hits. I suffer incredible pain when I'm cornered and your oki always manage to hit me once or twice per round. I almost never win any air contact even though we jump at the same time. Phew, hard times.

Also, I don't know if it's just me imagining things, but I noticed that you get some sort of concentration boost when you have less than 20% of your health. Maybe it's just me being stupid, but when I manage with some kind of miraculous luck to bring you that low, you become unhittable and I end up screwing up badly.

See you around! I wish I could practice a bit outside our matches.

That 5 card ice cube is lovely, isn't it? You should keep a closer eye on my cards, being smashed down from the air with it like that isn't a good idea. That moment when I screwed up punishing your spark was quite spectacular though. Also, couldn't stop laughing at your fortune packets with Sanae, oh god.

>I don't know if it's just me imagining things, but I noticed that you get some sort of concentration boost when you have less than 20% of your health.
Yeah, I know. I do plenty of risky gambles and outright stupid shit when I know I can afford it. I don't really do it intentionally, it's just how I end up playing for some reason.

GGs Sitha. Man, that was fun. Playing with minimal lag is a rare treat, which I guess you would know as a fell finn. It's been a while since we last fought, hasn't it?

My 66C proved extremely useful against you, normally I wouldn't spam it like that since it's horrible on block but I kept getting away with it. Something you should keep an eye on.

Also, I might've been a bit too trigger happy with my 5card, using it out of the blue every now and then. You kept your cool quite well against it, most of my opponents either don't look at my cards and eat it up or stay on the ground out of fear of getting hit.

I know that I let you get away with too much 66C but I just can't grip my head on how far the hitbox of it goes, and how high it hits, my brain keeps telling me I should be able to jump it or 66C it even if I constantly fail, the move just overall confuses me

And yeah, you were a bit overly happy with it, you didn't occasionally even give me time to start moving before you hit it out :x
I do try to keep my eyes on my opponents cards yeah, but with Cirno I always have the problem that I can't really tell Perfect Freeze and Ice Crusher apart so I get a bit confused with them at times
