I can never figure out which direction to read these in, since both ways make sense.

That implies that /jp/ tries to transform the external world into his internal world. But looking at the recent trend of Tulpaism, we can see that the reverse is true - Anon superimposes his internal world onto our external, shared world. Both result in more or less the same end, but the means call for clarification.

No he doesn't. Tulpa doesn't exist in the shared world, it's not part of the world. Creating art is "superimposing internal world onto external", playing make believe isn't.

YOU DO NOT HAVE A REALITY MARBLE

>> No.8767155

death= self + world - self = world

the world would still exist wothout you

and there is no Gensokyo for you

Gensokyo is real. I've been there.

The correct way to reason about this is to say that you have a model of a world in your mind, and said world also contains yourself, sort of like a hyperset. Now you're havinga new process which is constantly modifying this model which is supposed to be perceptual to include inner parts which involve your imagination/subconscious, similar to how dreams work. Thus your perception of the external world now includes something which does not exist in this external world, this view either being inconsistent if you don't realize this (possibly like schizophrenia) or consistent if you realize this (not different from your own vocalized thoughts).

Given that the level the world works at (it isn't magical, it's mechanistic, although that's just my assumption!) is lower than the level your mind works at, you obviously cannot "superimpose" your inner perception of reality into the external physical world - this is basically saying we don't live in a magical or purely mental world. Of course, with future technologies, we may one day be able to make such shared worlds, but that's a long time from now. If/when we do get to that point, /jp/ will have their Gensokyo and until then, they'll have to be fine with their internal model of their world.
PS: Don't forget time passing is also subjective (speaking of consciousness here).

There is another way of thinking of it (given your example if bad, I'll try a similar one):
you = abstract platonic structure of your mind = your consciousness
your body/brain = substructure in the universe implementing AN INSTANCE of 'you' (see above)
the universe = stable informational pattern containing 'you' and many others like you, has similar platonic existence as a structure
"platonic existence" = model of a consistent theory, such as a theory of universal computational, set of all true statements.
"consciousness" = inside view of some structures, "what it's like to be"

death = inability of current structure to consistently implement 'you', measure reduction, to the point of ending in some nearly stable world = local death with respect to those in the structure you previously existed in

So no, it's not obvious at all what 'you', 'mind', 'the universe' is, but various theories will have various predictions.
Gensokyo? Magical worlds would be unstable statistically, but not impossible. Stable versions may be engineered one day when we develop the right technology.
