Hey /jp/ I was wondering, should I play Touhou?

>> No.8760721

Yeah! It's loads of fun, and really rewarding when you finally complete something you've been working towards for a while.

>> No.8760745

There are many non-terrible STGs you could play instead.

>> No.8760747

Words cannot describe the feeling of accomplishment after you beat normal mode for the first time after 3 months of failures.

>> No.8760760

If I'm new to Touhou games, which Touhou should I Tou first? (pardon my pun, it just fit so nicely)

>> No.8760766

It's an STG, it's not like you need to make any time commitment to see if you think it's fun. You'll know if you like it or not after playing for about five minutes.
Also there's a touhou gameplay thread: >>8699709
Also pretend like you're in an arcade, and don't use continues. It makes it more fun.

Not OP, but I always used continues in arcades.

Eh, to tell the truth I rarely went to arcades as a kid, and I did use continues too. But now that I think about it, you get a lot more game time for the money if you don't continue, and that seems to be the code of the smart arcade players. Also, it's rude to continue if there are people waiting to play the game, but that's fairly unlikely to happen in any deserted arcades that still exist around here.

Yeah, I agree that its better not to use continues. I was a stupid kid, though, and I just wanted to brute force my way through the game and beat it, rather than get better at it.
