I think being banned should set a cookie. Then even if you change IP address, 4chan checks for that cookie and re-bans you for evasion.

Of course it would be easy as hell to get around, but it would trip so many people up.

I hear those evercookies are pretty much impossible to kill unless you're way advanced in IT expertise. moot should use those to auto-ban ban evaders.

I think it should ban the person's Ip address normally, but also do a day long range ban for their entire subnet.

Evercookie is a dick move, especially since the author is intending them to be used seriously (rather than a proof-of-concept like all those sites that identify the risks of tracking).
Hopefully people will realize why all this local storage stuff is potentially a bad idea because of Evercookies. Hell, cookies themselves are stupid and poorly designed. Haven't looked it up but I can only hope they were some Netscape or Internet Explorer extension and not a proper part of the original HTTP spec.

That could be unfair though since not all ISPs assign IP addresses the same way. Banning 123.123.123.* for example might ban hundreds of users on a common ISP.
Check out /img/. Most of the posts there are people complaining that they were range banned because some mod thought it was a good idea to ban half of Earth in order to stop one spammer or troll.
