So I have a large collection of doujin I'm trying to sort and organize. Would it be better to zip each into a .7z archive and use a program like CDisplay to read them or keep them unzipped in a folder, what are the benefits of each?

How does /jp/ keep their doujin sorted? What programs do you use?

I don't have any doujin to sort because I'm not disgusting and lewd.

How do you know they're not non ero doujins? Huh? How do you?

I keep each one in its own folder, depending on how it was released. I rename the folder it's in like this: 'Title [Author]'. I have a folder of doujinshi that I recently downloaded and haven't renamed yet, and each month I go through them and add them to either a tankoubon folder, chapters/story folder, or their own folder. Then I rename them. After they've been sorted and renamed, the single shot/release ones go into my big folder/archive, while tankoubon and continuin stories are not moved until their stories/chapters are finished.

Here is my archive folder.

hello friend
i think compressed files keep crc checks... so it's safer..
i have old cds with jpgs and some of them show only 20% of the image or so (rest is a gray block)
you could also have problems when copying them between media or over the net
i would use compressed files, it's also easier to organize

I'd be quite impressed if you had so many non-ero doujins that you needed to sort them. I might even want to hold your hand...

Here's some that I've downloaded since January. I'm a bit behind with the sorting. Most of the dupes are caught some time along this process due to the naming. The only times it fails are romanization of names and double spaces.

This was my thought as well, though I am not very knowledgeable on such things. There is an option to just "store" the files in an archive which I take to mean no compression, I wonder if that would work just the same. I am more concerned about archive health than disk space.

Very neat and OCD, I like it.

It's like raising a child and occasionally masturbating to it. The 2011 date is due to a reformat from a virus.

Comicrack is by far the best way to handle large collections. You can get incredibly OCD adding all sorts of things, and it's easy to browse by author or series. Although it takes a while to tag all your shit.

I've never heard of this. It looks pretty interesting.

I download the archives from PD/Share/Whatever, extract it to my library, and then throw the doujinshi rar/zip into the proper event folder on one of my HDD's. I keep my library of everything I have extracted though, so it's easier to pick up and read. The untranslated folders are labeled with the circle, the event of release, and if they are porn or not. I also like to mark them with a (C) to denote that I have read it.

As for the program, it's Total Commander which is my favorite file manager. For viewing, I use IrFanView.

I find that Windows Explorer is sufficient, as long as I'm consistent with my labeling schema.

Why not install a local webserver like Apache, Abyss, lighttd, nginx, or Windows Server and run your own booru? If you have the time, it'll work well!

We will one day do that in the /jp/ mansion. But for one person doesn't it seem unnecessary? You're cataloging sets of images, not individual ones.

Why don't we just use a webserver in the first place, like thedoujin?

>> No.8745148

I'm just sotring original archives in proper directory tagged in a date-like manner for original files. As for english translation, I put them in the translation group's folder instead. It's sufficient for finding stuff, but can be tricky at times.

I would very much prefer to have some sort of tagging, but it's already too late for me, it'd take me a very long time to catalogue everything.

>>8745126
This would be nice, but I merely like to be able to locate the archives, so instead I'd prefer a mix between that and something like a ROM release validator which renames files to their original names or finds duplicates.
I suppose exhentai fits the purpose partially, but the way their distribution is arranged is rather faggy, although possible to work with.

I stopped naming folders when the amount of tags was too much to handle in a single file
name.
Currently storing ~20G of data (images) + 140K of zipped database (tags, artists, circles etc.)
