I've come to realize that fun is only possible after doing some periodic non-fun work that makes you yearn for fun again.

Doing fun all the time is not fun, it's boring. While doing not-fun things all the time is also boring. It seems like boredom and malaise is the default condition there is, and the thought of it makes me depressed.
