There was a way by pre ordering on Dutch Amazon.com and then dropping your pre order right after you got your key. It wouldn't charge you but you'd still get access to the betas. Try lurking the threads on /vg/, they usually say how to get keys.

CPU speed isn't really a requirement though, since speed means nothing compared to the architecture of the processor itself, if you have a pentium 4 then it probably needs to be 3.2ghz, but you could probably easily get away with 2.2ghz on a dual-core, even if it is an old athlon.

Because it's terrible. It tries to combine 2 things but does a very poor job of it.

The action portion of the game is horrendous. Everything has massive hitboxes. Ranged attacks are prerolled based on whether you have the crosshair on the person or not. Dodges are just full on invulnerability for their duration. This is mostly because the game uses an open world, so it can't be precise as other action RPGs.

The RPG part is nothing special either. Just a clone of all the other theme park MMOs out there. Kill quest kill quest kill quest. Then group up with your friends to fight massive enemies (15 minutes of a guy/loli with a shield getting attacked while s/he gets heal botted and everyone else pokes away at it's health bar)! Because of their need to copy the over used holy trinity system, this pretty much throws the action portion in the garbage can and turns every fight into if you have the right classes and gear. Also, they made the very old mistake of having 1 and a half tank classes, 2 healing classes, and the remaining 4 classes being damage dealers.

Definitely not worth 50bux plus another 12 a month. Just fap to Elin screenshots and fanart.

Having tried tens of different MMOs for longer periods of time in the past I can easily say that TERA is probably my second favorite MMORPG out of them all. The way combat works feels fresh and exciting for me. However the end game makes or breaks the game for me. I haven't seen it
yet and I'm sure I won't be getting that chance any time soon. Mind you I'm a person that likes to see large numbers and mindless grinding is something I enjoy immensely, so I may be a tad bit biased.

It seems like pvp isn't the focus of this game since Korea hates it. Does that mean the focus is on pve?

I doubt anyone has seen the endgame but are there raid monsters that require 20+ people and an hour to fight? Instance type things? I only got to lvl 22 but it seems like getting to the level cap is going to be easy.

Game definitely puts PvE before PvP. Some classes are flat out useless in one or the other however. The PvP focus is a western thing.

The endgame is 80% world bosses 20% instances. Closest thing to compare it to is FFXI. Pretty much all about zerging down bosses. I laugh at anyone seriously rolling on a PvP server. Nothing will get killed on them unless one guild gets half the server population.

I've been playing on the NA servers. I'd prefer not to have to redo the beginning too much and not feel like playing when the game is actually released. I wish they would have made it even further from a typical mmo, but the combat is good enough to make it worth playing.

There is no reward. However, I enjoy the feeling of always having to watch my back and be aware of surroundings. I think it adds to the game and is more exciting than kill x enemies over and over.

I'm max level in JP, and largely soloed it. You have to party up for instanced dungeons though. There are probably 8 or 10 of them up until level 58, and then at level 58 I think there are 5 more or so (2 more to be added in the big update Corea just got). Killing elites is the most fun part of the game though. They're fairly easy to solo at the beginning of the game, but later on they start to move quicker and really do a lot of damage, so most classes probably wouldn't survive without stockpiling health potions (which are really expensive, and the payout from the elites wouldn't cover the cost).
But in retrospect, getting to the level cap is easy. Partying up and killing elites is probably the quickest way, but just doing the side quests that are given to you will be enough to get you perfectly leveled for the next area.

I'm not playing because it's an action game. They call themselves an mmorpg but it's obviously a multiplayer action game. I'm not keen on furiously pounding buttons for hours on end. I prefer more emotional games that take it slow and allow you to move at your own pace through a diverse world.

That's only okay as long as the game doesn't become like Aion on Asia, where you pay in hours for the time you stay logged on, but EVERYTHING in the game is made so that you spend a lot of time on doing nothing.

There are big elevators that take lots of time to go between places (not any place, places you have to go a lot, like where you buy skills or start/end campaign quests); crafting involves huge -- I mean FUCKING HUGE -- crafting bars, to the point where you have to put your toon crafting potions and then going to sleep until they are ready; any enchanting or similar system involves "casting" bars and many failures, where you sometimes spend hours trying to put some stones in your 6 slot single piece of gear; events where you get prizes only for staying online a shitton of hours... and other shit.

RO used to be a cool pay-for-the-time-you-play-only. You bought hours and they would only go down while you were online, with no retarded timesink except for leaving your merchant stores open. Those were good times.
