Kamidori has rekindled my love for SRPGs.

Non-main characters either get written out or don't have any effect on it anyway, or retreat when they "die" if they're important to the plot. Most characters fall in to the first category, and there's very few people in the other one.
If a Lord dies, you lose.

Three maps to go in Monshou no Nazo Book 1. Time to show Garnef who's boss. And then, into dat new storyline/maps in Book 2.

Yes. I can't imagine not doing a "no one left behind" run. Save fucking everyone.

It would be a different story if they were generic unnamed units, nobody cares when those die in games.

This. No matter how many savegames it takes.

I've only played 7 and 8. Loved them so much. More than a bit hesitant to try the console ones...they don't even look like fire emblem.
Why wasn't 6 ever released in the west?

I've been trying to gather up my autism and attempt an AAAA ranking in Fire Emblem 4.

Then I looked at all the videos online of people doing the same. These people are the grand masters of autism. Saving every turn. Reloading hundreds of times for the perfect level up and clearing the arena with garbage characters like Ardan. Spending hours and hours in the arena. My autism just isn't strong enough.

I don't think it was Fire Emblem, but yeah, I heard there was some Pokemon SRPG. The Pokemon roguelikes weren't too bad so I'll probably pick it up.

The first English GBA game is best for beginners. After that it doesn't really matter. 4 is definitely the best in the series.

3 is a remake of 1, plus an additional 20 chapters.
The first DS game is another remake of 1 (without the extra chapters). I haven't tried it yet but I have heard it was horrible, you have to intentionally kill your own party members to get to secret chapters or some shit.
The second DS game is a remake of the second half of 3.

Which one was four? Was that the one where your entire army gets killed half-way through and you play through the rest of the game with their kids?

I enjoyed Path of Radiance. Radiant Dawn is hit or miss. You probably won't like if unless you loved Path of Radiance.

It's not translated but Tear Ring Saga on the PS1 is very good as well. It's made by the original creator of the FE series.

>> No.8692038

I hate letting people die personally, but there's no real penalty for letting characters who aren't useful to you die other than the crippling guilt. Anyone who is crucial to the story will either "retire" and not play any more or cause a game over.

>> No.8692071

For anyone who hasn't played 4 (Genealogy of the Holy War) or 5 (Tracia 776), I highly recommend them.

4 can be fairly easy or somewhat hard depending on how you manage relationships in your army due to a certain event that happens in the middle of the game.

5 is probably the most difficult game in the series thanks to the implementation of fatigue, the mechanics behind capturing, and the severe lack of decent weapons unless you capture enemies constantly. You're probably going to be using shitty iron weapons for 99% of the game unless your thieves get lucky on level-ups or you're a pro at the game.

>Get two characters into a stage 3 relationship
>"I Love you. Let's live happily together after this fighting ends." "Ok, I look forward to it soulmate-kun."
>They truly love each other
>The next battle one of them dies because of my utter incompetence
>They call out to each other before soulmate-kun is horribly struck down in the midst of battle
>Turn off Gameboy
>Never play again Fire Emblem again out of sheer overwhelming guilt and sadness

Forgive me, I have failed you both...
