There's plenty of Japanese metal out there if all you want is origin.

CrowsClaw is mostly a ripoff of mainstream melodeath bands.

I liked many variations of metal as an adolescent. Nowadays I think it's noise compromises the melodies too much.

Where did the name ``metalcore'' come from? From what I heard it sounds like shitty power metal. If it means 'metal + hardcore', don't we already have crossover?

This is what power metal sounds like. No power ballad in metalcore.
I think metalcore is supposed to be just normal metal with breakdowns rather than solo's. I always thought it was more punk rock inspired metal, but then it would sound like early megadeth i think.

>> No.8684776

>I think metalcore is supposed to be just normal metal with breakdowns rather than solo's.
lol, that would deathcore.
Metalcore is caracteristic of using dropped tunnings
Also, most famous metalcore bands are actually melodic metalcore, which also have solos.
>In the early 1990s, a third wave of metalcore groups appeared, who placed significantly greater emphasis on melody. These bands tend to fuse melodic death metal, hardcore punk and sometimes emo. Melodic metalcore bands include All That Remains, Atreyu, Bullet for My Valentine, Darkest Hour, Eighteen Visions, Killswitch Engage and Poison the Well. These groups took major influence, cues, and writing styles from Swedish melodic death metal bands, particularly At the Gates, Arch Enemy, In Flames and Soilwork. Melodic metalcore frequently makes use of clean vocals. Some of these groups, such as Shadows Fall, have voiced an affection for '80s glam metal. Melodic metalcore groups have been described as "embrac '80s metal clichés", such as "inordinate amounts of smoke machines, rippin' solos, three bass drums.

I expect most metalcore to suck, but every so often a band will come along and kick my ass into liking them.

>> No.8685019

I like it, but there's a lot of generic shit so it's kind of hard to find a decent band
