Honestly it's not really that good, the only reason to buy it is for the mods and then that's only on PC. unmodded is a very bland game, I'd rather go play Wow and that's saying something.

NWN was Bioware's last good game. They are also responsible for turning the whole genre into unplauyable turds after they started churning out thrash with barely noticeable RPG elements like KotOR and Jade Empire.

Honestly, no matter what it is I can say with clear consience - I blame Bioware. You RPGs great and then you proceeded to ruin them. Thanks Bioware.

For what it's worth I did think it was more interesting looking than Nier (which looked like straight up garbage), but the "poor" (and I'm being nice here) animation kept taking me out of the game. It was so clunky and ridiculous looking.

Ironically enough the majority of my favorite games from last ~5 years were made by devs from Eastern Yurop. Stalker, King's Bounty, Witcher, Space Rangers (well this one is a little older), IL Sturmovik (although those are sequels to a pretty damn old game but you get the point).

And then there's Paradox which has been remaking the same game for well over a decade by now but it's still fucking great. I've been playing the shit out of Crusader Kings II lately.

Reading young adult literature with ample accompanying illustrations does not make one mature or intelligent. Even if the writing were worthwhile, a monitor + keyboard is an awful stage upon which to narrate. Art is most successful when it is tailored to its medium. People don't go into theaters to watch static images of paintings and sculpture on screens. DoDonPachi, Tetris and Nethack are examples of games that take advantage of their medium. Final Fantasy, Mass Effect and Fate/Stay Night are works that attempt to transcend it and fall flat on their faces as a result.

It's not as though narrative has no place in games, but it should never, never be the primary focus. This is something that both western and eastern devs have gotten wrong time and time again.

Somewhat agreed with this statement, but I would use the term "make full use of" rather than "tailored to". But one very VERY important fact is that there is no one singular gauge for the value of art, especially across dissimilar games.

You seem to imply eroges need to be in a video format rather than consist of static images. I have to disagree here, pictures serve a different purpose from videos and have a different effect. Giving a simple example, following your logic, 2D art is unilaterally worse than 3D art. Which obviously isn't true. Therefore, you cannot simply declare eroges to be inferior because it isn't presented in a video format.
