I recently listened to the latest Yuruyuri's character album "Ai? Kawarazu". While mostly Yuruyuri fans will like it, Track 11 seemed kind of familiar, and to my surprise it was composed by ARM. It's nice, and the lyrics are funny. You may also like the first track. The rest are previous character songs sung jokingly by each other in a karaoke box.

I would recommend just using a proxy service for those who want to buy doujin CDs. Yeah, it's expensive, but doujin CDs are usually only like 10 bucks anyway, so it's not THAT bad. It's definitely more time effective / rewarding than spending hours searching online with no end in sight.

This thread is great. I've been a huge denpa fan since 2007 and I had no idea there was an english fanbase for it besides denpa no sekai.

I've got a bunch of MOSAIC.WAV albums from a while back plus some Ave;new and whole bunch of UNDER17. I've literally been listening to these on loop for about 5 years now picking up a few MOSAIC albums as they were released.

As for me, my first approach was on 2006 with UNDER17 and Sumomo mo momo mo's OP by MOSAIC.WAV, but I didn't get really interested in them until 2007, when I realized they made some crazy music that instantly clicked with me. I downloaded some albums and I listened to them every day.

Then I found Denpa no Sekai. At first I used it as a source for MOSAIC.WAV stuff but I got interested in other artists and got really obsessed with them. Besides, I couldn't read Japanese very well back then. After that I was surprised to find out that it was actually a pretty old thing from the Japanese otaku scene.

When I say "instantly clicked" I really mean it, I feel this need to listen more and more every day.

Your story sounds almost exactly the same as mine.

If I was ever to make an anime it'd be about a magical girl who lives a double life as denpa singer and has her compete in a big denpa tournament with other real denpa artists who also live double lives as other magical entities.

So they'd be battling in Akihabara as both Denpa artists plus they'd be in this magical girl storyline too. The anime would be used to promote a new denpa group who the protagonist would portray. The anime would focus on each character/denpa artist every episode and give background story all the way.

If only...ave;new could be a pair of hyper-moe loli twins who go to pre-school and drink ichigo milk...MOSAIC.WAV could be portrayed as a couple of hackers and we could see some animated cameos featuring Meiwaku Mailing Girl and a Shounen Episode with Akibattler U etc.

WHY HASN'T THIS HAPPENED. AIC could do an amazing job of it...

I never thought of that either, I never even mentioned it around here because everyone used "denpa" to refer to the VN genre. Some time ago some guy posted a thread with a ちぃむｄｍｐ song saying "this turns me on" or something. Then many people started posting their favorite denpa songs and I can remember some guy who had bought 電波っぽいのっ ripping it and uploading it there. It was a surprise.

In an (un)related note, Yuri Seijin Naoko-san (2012) full-length OVA was just released, with MOSAIC.WAV obviously doing the OP theme and (surprisingly) the background music for the whole episode. Also great animation, pretty funny too.

The audio sounds fucked though, it's like they completely fucked the stereo image. I wonder if it's MOSAIC-SUBS release's fault.

It's not that I don't like other artists, I just have an apparently unusual habbit of listening to single tracks on repeat for long periods of time. People used to comment on it being an odd trait, it's not something that just applies to recently discovered things, not that ちぃむｄｍｐ☆ is - I found out about them after finding the mitsubachi cover, having been a fan of the original.

I just noticed that it's because the songs are also in 5.1 and as I'm listening with headphones my sound card is just mixing every channel to stereo, so it sounds weird.

Also, did I just say that the songs are in glorious 5.1? Whoa whoa whoa. I tried it with my 7.1 setup and they are actually remixed. In the center speaker there's the kick and lead vocals, in front speakers the synths and backup vocals, and in the back the guitar and more synths. I'm greatly enjoying this.

Does anyone else agree that whenever a denpa song is used as an OP or ED that the series itself is slightly denpa themed too? My main example here is Kyouran Kazoku Nikki which had Kyouka using her Mobile Phone waves to put thoughts into peoples heads and there was a lot of 'gumin gumin' type stuff. The whole series was batshit insane and MOSAIC.WAV did the OP and an insert song, the ED for Kyouka was also denpa-ish too.

Is this an example of denpa culture in anime? Kaitou Tenshi Twin Angel used ave;new's music as the OP plus in one of the episodes, I found Kaitou Tenshi Twin Angel to have that soft 'moe' feeling to it.

Another example is Sumomo Momomo which was pretty nuts but I watched it before I was familiar with Denpa music so I'm not sure if I'm missing something there.

I'd love to learn more about this and denpa kei culture, not just the music.

Decided to pick this up to see what it's all about and oh my goodness did I thoroughly enjoyed it. It kind of felt like Ichigo Marshmallow meets Kamichu meets just a hint of FLCL.

Is there more to this OVA like a manga series or maybe even an anime series? I want more of it now ;_;

Also that OP and ED was quite wonderful to listen to as well. Those lolis the characters and the choice of voice actors were simply amazing

I have been searching actually.

So far there seemed to be another OVA that aired in 2010 and was only 6 min long. It is a manga series that started in 2005 and is still ongoing. But what I have yet to see is if they are going to make an anime series or not

Was answered pretty easily by both the first and / or second links google bring up and, unless /jp/ is housing time travelers, you're not going to find out if an anime is in the works.

Also, the album "吟遊Planet☆AKIBA-POP" has the song "NAOKO-THUNDER VERNIER Ⅱ ～幼女期の終わり～" which is also related to Naoko-san. It's one of my favorite songs from them, I highly recommend it.

Some what? Relationship? A lot, a fuckton of denpa is touhou related. From the top of my head 天然ジェミニ, IOSYS, Forest Pireo, Holic Service, Halozy, Siestail, Younoumi.

As for myself, I prefer original songs and it's a good thing more circles are trying that, but I have to admit that some touhou remixes are pretty good.

I've been playing a lot of these lately too, I'm glad to finally be able to catch up with denpa finally. It's nice to be up to date and not just trying to grab bits from around the internet.

I'd never really expressed any interest in knowing who ARM were but from hearing 2 songs I'm suddenly blown away, I can't wait to dig through their discography.
