Made a save state for Ura-1 and I've just been playing how I would normally play any other arcade game, starting with one credit and ending when I run out of lives. Those suicide bullets are murder.

So thrilling practicing impossibly difficult stuff, it's the same feeling I get whenever I load up Hibachi in DDP first thing in the morning for waking myself up.

DOJ Hibachi(both WL and BL) was kind of a let-down after playing through the intense as hell 2-5, to be honest. DDP Hibachi is far more threatening than DOJ Hibachi will ever be.

Maybe tomorrow I'll make a save state for DOOM, I only make it to Ura-3 at most in full runs, but I'm interested to seeing if DOOM is also a push-over compared to the stages. The funny thing is, DonPachi is a ghost town compared to later CAVE games, but for some reason, I still get terribly destroyed by it. Many of the deaths feel really cheesy to me, but it's probably just the larger hitboxes getting to me.

There's a ton of ways to play DOOM without having to savestate your way through Ura. Ketsui Death Label, various Danmakufu scripts (notably, Evaccania BIEBER), etc. etc.

Though I suppose doing it in the game would be the most accurate.

I dunno, I always found both Hibachi's medium in difficulty. DDP Hibachi is where I would always get destroyed. Double Hibachi in Death Label in a no-bomb/hyper run is where it's really at, my first run of Death Label, I felt super cheesy abusing safespots, hypers, and bombs with A-S. Even worse is the fact that Double Hibachi goes easy on you with A-S.

>>8661129
One time, I tried to no-miss no-bomb EoSD Extra Ultra. It was kind of fun in a way, but eventually, it just became super frustrating and depressing after about 5 hours of dying on the same spellcard and having to restart millions of times. QED Ultra is a real kicker, I'm very glad ZUN put that spellcard in GFW Normal as a non-spell.

Getting that far in DOJBL isn't too difficult if you go full Korean and start grinding every single stage with save states. Sadly, save states are the only option for me as far as BL goes because the glorious PS2 port is WL.

It feels really hollow grinding the same stage over and over again though, but hey, if you want good performance, it's one of the ways to do it.

I feel like I've royally burned myself out on this game. I can still play it, but I feel like I'm just playing to play, not playing to win. The only fun in this game anymore is trying to achieve goals that I can't accomplish, and the luster to achieve them is minimal. Playing regular Lunatic runs is boring, because I feel like it's too easy. I'm not a big fan of scoring, so I can't enjoy that either. My NB/NBNUFO runs are all that I have left, and they're not getting anywhere. I haven't been playing much, and I can feel my skills dissipating. I can start grinding again to get them back, but what will happen then? I'll burn myself out and lose them again? I managed to get to a state when I was perfecting everything up to Murasa more often that not, and usually only making a small mistake on Murasa. After that, everything after midboss Nazrin destroyed me, and then I had to repeat the whole run to try again. It was through this technique that I once managed to get to Byakuren's last spellcard in a NBNUFO run. I grinded for weeks after that, but I could never come close to it again. I feel like I have accomplished a lot in my almost one year of playing Touhou, but I can't get myself to play like I used to. Maybe I just need to wait for summer to start back up again. Maybe I should take the focus away from the main goals, and just try to play because I like it. I really do like the game. It's one of the most perfect things I've ever played. UFO and Touhou in general have been very kind to me. I found the perfect game for myself along with the perfect community for it. I love some games that I hate the community for, and so I don't play them. Sometimes, liking the community was enough for me to play a bad game. Touhou got both of these things right, and so I found a home in it.

>> No.8662263

I still want to beat this game, I'm just stuck and lacking in motivation. I still haven't exhausted all my possibilities, so I'm going to keep trying. It's strange - Sometimes, I feel like I can do it, but then I don't. Sometimes, I feel like I'm hopelessly outclassed. Sometimes, I feel like I'm implementing the wrong technique or I'm missing the proper technique. Sometimes, I feel like I'm just not good enough at dodging bullets. Maybe it's a mixture of all these things? Maybe I should just ignore them and keep playing? Decisions, decisions...

I did take a long break. I've barely been playing UFO, and I went to get a VOWG timeout and DOJ 1-ALL. I forgot about Ultra. I was doing pretty well it in, but I didn't play for too long. I don't think I could "move on" to Ultra. I don't consider it to be another difficulty, just another challenge. It's not a real game to me, and I would never take it seriously.
>If it makes you feel any better, I've been playing DDP since it came out on the Saturn, and I have a little over 300 hours played in MAME and I've only beaten it maybe thirty times out of all of those hours played.
That's not so bad, especially considering the limitations of the Saturn. Maybe I should go for small challenges such as looping some arcade games or perfecting some Extra stages. Accomplishing something might increase my motivation. I can a few credits of UFO per day, and then work on some other projects in the meantime.

Well... Let me formulate it like this:
- lunatic clear requires too much of a bo-oring and monotonous work. Make one run right after another, don't make any breaks (or you'll lose your skills immediately) and memorize memorize memorize...
Right now I am taking touhou as easy as possible (for touhou, that is). One run of this game, one run of that game... New ReimuA EoSD Normal record! Nice... And then no runs for, say, several days. And after that I can play all games mixed up all day long. Just because I feel like it.

Playing should be fun, right? And hundreds of hardcore lunatic runs... doesn't look like much fun for me.

So I'm going to assume that you've actually used the hitbox patch in conjunction with the maximum amount of lives. Which is funny, because EoSD practically feeds you lives before the fourth stage.

You haven't "accomplished" anything at all. Or, for that matter, 1cc'd. Maybe you'd like to delete your copy of EoSD and try again, without the fabricated bullshit? Hey, maybe I'll add a hitbox patch to Daioujou and Ketsui, and post my scores on system11. No problem, right? I mean, there's everyone else, lookin' to post scores, fetchin' practice, without the hitbox patch. Surely I'll have an advantage over them if I use it... right?

I'm gonna drop some science on you. Check this:
5 default starting lives + 0 continues = 5 lives
3 default starting lives + 1 continue = 5 lives

Whoops, using extra starting lives is exactly the same as continuing. A 1cc means you didn't continue. You can say "well I technically didn't use continues so it still counts!" but that's obviously not true. It's not a big deal, and you shouldn't feel bad about having to use a continue, just call it what it actually is. Practice some more and you'll get a legitimate 1cc.

Feel free to live with it, also feel free to know that you're not accomplishing anything by playing with it, not capable of submitting scores to royalflare/system11/cave-stg/shrinemaiden/basically anywhere that accepts scores, because you're using what is, fundamentally, cheating. If ZUN wanted to create EoSD with a visible hitbox, he would have done so. Just because you inane secondary faggots came along post-IN doesn't mean the game is going to conform to your standards.

Literally worldwide, a 1cc is done using default settings. This is not "some faggots over the internet's opinion", it is literally everyone that isn't you. If you want to personally call it a 1cc as long as you don't actually throw in another credit, then by all means, but it has absolutely no validity in terms of the standard.

>So, I'm trying to take down Nue, everything goes fine until green UFO and undefined darkness, have to ask, is there a gimmick to dodge/capture these two? for some reason I keep dying in danmaku I can't see coming.
>Using Sanae B
Yes. For Green UFO Invasion, SanaeB is pretty easy. You will want to go up slightly, then return down, remembering the height at which the lasers will appear around the green lasers, but not quite at the bottom of the screen. It's a unique kind of streaming. Killing some of the UFOs is also very useful.

Undefined Darkness is pretty hard with SanaeB, but it's still doable. Since SanaeB has an outward spread, you will want to time when she is going to move, and try to keep her high in the screen. You will generally want to stay far away from her, or at least stay in a position where it is easy to dodge. There's a few ways to do it, just practice.

Nue is a pretty easy boss in general, so just keep going and you will have her in no time.

This video should give you a visual example of what to do. Maybe you can learn from it.

No-Bomb run of UFO Lunatic with ReimuB.
Ending with a few spare lives.

This run features a perfect Ichirin, Murasa, and Shou. It also has a lot of silly mistakes to keep you entertained. I had a lot of fun in this run, and it brought a lot of hope into me. A lot of the mistakes were very avoidable, or simply due to me being too aggressive with token collecting. I'm still going to try this with MarisaB, and I'm still going to do it with NBNUFO.

The moment of losing a NBNUFO run on LFS still haunts me, and I will overcome it. Wish me luck.

I've never found it that way at all. You don't need to "learn" any of her patterns to beat her aside from her second noncard, which you should be able to figure out almost instantly. In fact, I would argue that Youmu has some of the best dodge'em patterns in the game.

>>8676700
Misdirection is a simple trick card on all difficulties. Easy and Normal are different "tricks" than Hard and Lunatic, but it isn't bad at all. Normal you simply sidestep and don't move very much, while Lunatic is the same but sitting in a corner and doing circles.

>>8675798

Currently, I'm on a trip and only have a shitty laptop with me, and for the hell of it I tried playing PCB the other day and 1 CCed easily on my first try, because of the frame rate loss.

You guys who say you are good at Touhou, you don't play on low spec machines, do you?

Replays save the slowdown rate percentage with them. Even if that's bypassed or falsified, it's incredibly obvious from observing a player's movements that it was played at a reduced framerate.

I don't know how anyone can stand using Reimu in PCB. Its weird, because in EoSD I use Reimu because Marisa feels too touchy, but in PCB Reimu is just too slow, while Marisa is almost perfect. Its a shame too, because in most the newer games I have to use Reimu, as Marisa goes back to being as touchy as she was in EoSD... And also most her shot types suck.

Anyone else wish they would just do a direct port of Marisa's speed and shot type from PCB to newer games?

Reimu A destroys the stages easily in PCB and even has a smaller hitbox. She's even more overpowered in MoF disregarding Marisa Bugged.

Also Sakuya B eats the others in PCB.

So, I am planning to beat 2.3b on IN easy, with Sakuya solo. I'm currently working on my stage 4 route, the image is from a stage 4A practice on the said shot type.

Any tips on what should I do, or how to do the tricks I'm supposed to do? Here's the replay:

Hi OP and brothers.

You know I have been busy with school and just have all the Yakuza games to play, but haven't had time. I forgot to take my meds last night, which means I couldn't fall asleep. I ended up posting here all night. I'm a usual here. I am also a usually social guy, good with girls, can comprehend a lot of things, catholic, and work out.
But tonight I read things I usually don't OP. I read sexual douijns. As a Catholic I know and have my heart in the teachings, but as a man who dates women no one and I mean no one really taught me the hows of sex. I am confused about the physical part, but not the spiritual part. I read these douijns to try to grasp how you do it. I can't really even say I know where to put a penis in a woman or what the parts of a vagina are.
That's what I've been up to guys.

Sanae harder than Kogasa? I don't think so.
Koishi being the hardest boss? Hardest to beat, maybe, but hardest to perfect, probably not. She's very gimmicky. I don't think she's that bad compared to some bosses.

>> No.8691066

>>8691018
Kinda agree with this, I'm trying to take her down and whenever I leave my eyes from my hitbox I end dying because her danmaku does some strange movements, is not complex, just weird, I guess is just matter of getting used to it.

Also about Kogasa and Sanae.
First spell: Kogasa
Second: Draw
Thrid: Sanae, mostly because Kogasa last spell is kinda predictable once you play a couple times.

First spell: I would say it's a tie.
Second spell: I think Kogasa wins.
Third spell: I would go with Kogasa. You can safespot it in SA, and supergrazing it in UFO might be challenging. They are still both very easy though.

Still, I don't think they are too different. They are both only Extra midbosses and neither of them is too hard.
