Saying reported is equivalent to saying "i'm going to tell mommy on you". you don't go into a thread with real illegal content and say reported, you just report it. it's like how you don't tell a murder you're calling the police, instead you do.

You know in what situation you tell someone you're going to tattletale on them? when you're a 8 year old telling on another child. considering your mental constitution you're legally a child still in front of a court so it's fitting.

The janitor is an authoritative figure in their adolescent eyes. the reason why they call him a maid is since they see him as a mother figure (he babysits them). children naturally obey authoritative mother figures. it's a common tactic for parents to reward or train their children to tattle on each other. the issue with it is since they're immature will look for any reason to tattle and even make up lies to do so.

They will constantly seek attention from their authoritative figures (parents/babysitter) and to get it they'll even start lying. naturally, since they're child they want to tell you they've done it too.

Basically, these adolescent children view the janitor as a mother figure. he janitor threw him a couple bones by getting rid of certain threads they don't like. that's the reward/dog treat for them. now they constantly seek his attention and want to let everyone know about it too.
