What makes Tsukihime better than FSN is the atsmosphere, you can feel the danger , the drama, the mindfuck. The

music does a better job to add to the atmosphere than FSN.The characters interactions are so superior to the

character interactions of FSN that it hurts, and the slice of life segments and Shirou's Pov are fucking

annoying.FSN plot is too forced at times, some times they lead to plot holes, weak plot or unexplainable

developments.Tsukihime's plot flows better, it's simple and credible..
Tsukihime's plot is also more mature, each resolution have more weight to them 1) Arc and Shiki didn't end up in

good terms in Ciel's True End, 2) After every single of the Far Side of the Moon routes, Arc and Ciel will keep

hunting Roa, 3) Akiha ends up as a doll in one ending, 4) Akiha and Kohaku die in another end, 5) Hisui's Good End

wasn't precisely happy. In F/sn, only 2 characters couldn't be saved: 1) Ilya in UBW, 2) Saber and Ilya in HF.
Shirou never actually shows his resolve when it comes to deal with people who are prepared to kill, and the story

does not have serious and mature Masters - aside from Zōken-and the only time Shirou had to confront one of his

friends, was in HF against Black Saber. Shiki, on the other hand, had to fight Arc, Ciel, Akiha, and Satsuki at

some point - there's also the point when he realises all what Kohaku has been doing.
FSN is just too light and aimed at teenagers. That why the dark and cold as ice Tsukihime is superior.

considering that tsukihime was made by just a few fuys mostly for fun, great
It and Higurashi are some of the best amateur works out there

In actual terms, it's a bit above average, it also disguises 2 routes as having 5,
Arc and Ciel's are literally the exact same shit
Akiha/Kohaku/Hisui were the same, but not complete shit and had some differences, really the only good part of the game
KT really doesn't get the respect it deserves, and also we like Tsukihime for giving us the goddess that is Sion in its spin-off

>> No.8578021

What annoyed me the most with Tsukihime was all the Nanaya/Roa hijinks.
Most of the time its just really sudden, forcing events and drama to transpire.

At least I was bothered by it. I mean, the concepts and ideas behind it might perhaps not be that bad, but some force that kicks in and slowly but surely forces some kind of shit, and not to be speaking of "fade to black" -> "A whole bunch of drama happened!".
That's just sort of bad, or so I would say.

One might argue that it is just picking on details, and Tsukihime is far from restricted to this alone. Doesn't really change how it kept bothering me though.

I don't get how people can pretend to be objective towards a VN soundtrack, since most of the impact it has is subjective to the reader. Through the experiences we have whilst listening to a music, we give it our own special value. That's the most important part, imo.

I can't listen to This Illusion (piano) without being almost brought to tears, and yet someone else who has played the game is probably indifferent to it. Music appreciation is very subjective once you have played the game.

You are right in that the musical direction is very important.
But one of FSN main problem is that the musical direction is just very bad with some themes that are repeat ad nauseam when some of the most interesting themes can only be heard in 2-3 very short scenes.

I don't see how that is necessarily a problem. Repetition can be an interesting effect in itself (why would we need 10 separate musics for cooking scenes? if they are meant to be repetitive and slow, might as well make the music go with it). And having some great themes used at specific points gives them more impact.
I'm not saying that the music quality nor the music direction are not nearly enough perfect, but to me they fully filled their role. Then again, I'm no expert, so I might as well stop here and admit that most people are simply more exigent than me.

It's been a long time since I saw someone as delusional as you.
FSN is 4 fucking mb of text and there is like 10 tracks that play during 90% of the game.
Yes this is a big problem, especially since these tracks are far from being great.

Delusional? We simply appreciate music from a different aspect. You mainly see music as something with a relatively fixed quality meant to accompany a scene, I see (and use) it as a recipient for feelings.
I'm not pretending to know better than you, and I realize that I "shouldn't" perceive music that way. I just wanted to say that it was an important aspect as well, and can justify some of the music direction.
