With all the new posters using the VN General Thread to discuss translated games, It seems reasonable to make a thread specifically for untranslated games.
And so: What are you playing? What are you looking forward to? What have you finished? You know the drill.

I just started reading GSS. I'm trying to get this NoDVD situation sorted out with Trample on, Schatten because even with the disc image mounted the game won't start properly. If anyone has done it with this game yet that'd be awesome but I got some patch file that if I execute in the root folder and try to patch the exe, the game will load up but it's also broken, colors gone, text gone, and wont go farther than 1 text box in the game.

I also have these binary values I guess I have to change but.... I've never done this before, especially with a VN. Can anyone tell me what I have to do with these numbers? I really wanna get into some hotblooded hero novelan.

It's not easy going, a lot of long sentences and descriptive sequences. But I finished it with some patience and heavy reliance on text hookers, and I only know around ~600 kanji.

http://tlwiki.tsukuru.info/index.php?title=VN/Eroge_Scriptsizes is an interesting resource for this sort of thing; you can get a decent idea of difficulty by sorting by number of unique kanji. Grisaia uses over 2600, which is definitely on the high end.

>> No.8572621

>>8572575
The other thing to look at on this page for difficulty is the relation between 'number of lines' and 'script size.' If the script size is large and the number of lines comparatively small, the average line is going to be longer, and therefore harder to parse for the beginner.

Grisaia is 3.73 mb with 66k lines, which is very dense. Rewrite has over 100k lines and a smaller script size.

Using a binary editor, you edit those values of the appropriate exe.
The 18E25 is the location, and the 74 is the number you would change to EB.

In the image, I am using an EXE for a different program, so the values will be different, but it's the same process. The red box is where the 18E25 would be, and the green box is where your 74 would be that you have to edit.

After you change the necessary numbers, you just save, and you should be done.

>> No.8572670

>>8572523
Go grab a hex editor from Google.
Back up the original .exe somewhere.
Open up the .exe with the hex editor.
You should see a listing of entries increasing in hexidecimal value.
Scroll down until you see 18E20. In that row find the value of 74. Click on it. Replace it with EB.
Do the same for the next two values in the 18E90 row.

If you can't figure it out, I'll do it myself.

I find this question really hard to answer, since the amount of tears I shed is greatly dependent on how well the BGM and voice work of the particular scene resonates with my heart strings, regardless if anything else in the scene is done well.
I also seem to be more vulnerable to scenes where a male character is breaking into tears.

If we're going by the greatest amount I've shed during a single scene, then it's probably one of the final scenes in Eustia. I couldn't breathe through the snot and I couldn't see through my tears.
If it's by the amount of times I cried, then it's Baldr Sky, though I guess that's due to the fact that I replayed some tear-jerking scenes quite a few times.

Asairo got me crying all over the story. But I cry fairly easy.

Started すきま桜とうその都会 because I wanted something else to cry over gently. Started... rather I think I'm quite far into it and I'm unsatisfied. The plot looked good (The city of lies, main character past) but it soon fade out into comedy. I get it they wanted to show lies, I guess, but couldn't they choose a more balanced rate of comedy/seriousness, like in Asairo? Looks like they simply thought of the two part separately and mashed them together.
The characters are bad... I guess you I'll know more about them in their own routes, but really I have no motivation to even start them.
The plot events are... uneventful. Really, it's like something happens (not that often at all) and it's over already (Your sister run away? No problem, you take her back. No emotional impact whatsoever was felt.).

Why the fuck do you expect this to be as good as Asairo?
Don't, Sukima is just a small harmless eroge with a few twists, you see one of that kind released every months.
Asairo only has a low rating in egs due to some retarded problems like NO ROUTE OMG or WAKA ERO WHERE and anti-Shumon bullshit because Shumon trolled people with ItsuSora.
It doesn't indicate its quality.
I think anyone who read it and isn't one of the above could see it's up there with the best VNs ever.

I dropped AsaIro after an hour because the setting was a bit dull and the obsessive childhood friend didn't appeal to me. People sure seem to love it here so I'm assuming it gets a whole lot better, maybe I will give it another try.

One of the basic things they tell you as a writer is that the opening of your story has to grab the reader. By contrast I feel like a lot of VNs tend to put off the interesting twists until you've sat through 20 hours of slice-of-life stuff.

I kind of failed to illustrate my point. Its not that Asairo is low (which of course I know very well it is and what's the retarded reason for that), it's that this is way higher than what I would consider >75. The only reason I haven't dropped this yet is because of the subtitle. But that's not how it should go in a good game. And 76 should be good. The again, I just realized I never checked before what games are normally considered >75 so it could be my fault as well.

So, I finally went back and finished the end of the imouto route of Angel Ring. I understand the other anon's frustration with it when he warned me away from it.

I'm starting to get .... perturbed by the lack of consequences to incest in these games. At first I was frustrated as HELL that they'd give you the 'not blood related' copout. Now I'm getting frustrated they're giving us little to no consequences to blood related incest.

Angel Ring, We shouldn't do this, we're siblings ... oh the goddess appeared. 'Fuck off everyone, they're in love, lets support them and unite them in marriage!' everyone around them, 'oh you're right, our bad.'

Is there a good incest eroge where the couple is actually terrified about what they're doing and there's major consequences to their relationship? The last dozen or so incest eroge I've read amounts to 'blood related siblings? Oh well, let's fuck.'

Yes, I've read Hatsukoi and Clover Point.

I guess this would be the appropriate thread, given I'm reading it in Japanese. For Demonbane, is there a lot of repeated text/fights in all three routes, that end up not being considered already read text because it's in a different script file?

I've extracted the script and I've noticed identical text showing up across the scripts for all three routes. I'd imagine this artificially inflates its size considerably, and TLWiki's 2.7 MB script size for Demonbane is a bit misleading. I should note that I'm currently on Al's route, at the start of chapter 10, and I would hate to skip through something important that's unique to one of the other routes thinking I've already read it.

There should have been a proper reason as for why Chiaki is the way she is. Some kind of incident in the past I don't care, anything. Because I don't get how Haruki could develop any feelings for someone with such a rotten personality. He might as well have left Setsuna for a pimple-faced fujoshi landwhale. Chiaki is an obsessive awkward artist. People like that do exist in the real world and I'm glad they didn't try to explain away her personality through some past trauma.

All said, she struck me less as a horrible puppetmaster than as an awkward person who had repressed her own desire for relationships with others. She has this strong attraction to the emotions she saw in the Haruki triangle. Inserting herself into a similar 'role' is the only way she can think of to experience something similar. As she's doing that, she gradually feels more and more guilty, and less able to explain it away as a mutually beneficial trade. It's not like she has no conscience.

The first game she asks, about midway through the game, whether you like her hair now or when she was younger. If you say younger she calls you a pedophile, then shows up with her hair in odango. She will wear her hair like that for the rest of the game.

She also will show up for a date wearing an alternate outfit and then asks if you prefer what she normally wears or this alternate outfit. If you like the alt outfit she'll be wearing it for the rest of the game, except for her waitress outfit at work and school uniform.

The second game adds twintails which I'm a huge sucker for.

Only thing I'm not happy with is She never wears her wedding ring! I mean, what the hell! I even ctrl'd through the entire game and nope, she NEVER wears her wedding ring. They even show her wearing her wedding ring in the opening but actually in the game? Nope. Goddamn it.

Does anyone know how to get the GSS tools from tlwiki working? There are no instructions or anything and whenever I start the .exe it just crashes. I'm not really interested in trying to translate it fully, it's just that I've been copying the easier sentences into notepad as well as my interpretation to help build my vocabulary, and I figure it might be useful to someone who can't play it.

It's nice from what I can remember, though if you want to get into Unison Shift I would recommend Nanatsuiro Drops, it's great.
