Yes, he is.

Actually, it's a shame Stage6 shut down. All the videos were posted there (including second season). Luckily, I was able to save them before it was shot down. Even if you're not learning japanese, the skits are just 80s comedy genius.

I watched this like a year ago, and now that I understand a lot more japanese I rewatched it. I hadn't realized back then how the japanese in this is spoken at a very realistic rate, and the subtle humor in subtext.

Very cool.

Dieter, one of the these videos was posted on japanesejapanese.com and the guy who played Nick Muhrin turned up and had a little chat with us, it was awesome. So yeah he’s ok and works as a musician now. Here’s the link:

For anybody who's watched the 'Let's Learn Japanese' series featuring Yan-san (Nick Muhrin), you might be interested to know that he's singing and playing guitar with his wife in a bossa nova band called Kalifornico. Their next gig appears to be at BarBarBar in Yokohama on Feb 25. More info at http://www.akekubota.com/live_info_jpn.html

I've grown fond of the lovable dork and would love to say hello, although I probably can't make it to that particular gig.

Shalom Jenya,

No Jenya, I’m not Indian. :p But at times I had been mistaken for one by Indians, Punjabis in particular…heh heh ;)
In the Yan series they made me use dark makeup to make me seem I was from some exotic country. :(
The fact is that I have a Slavic background — Russian, Ukrainian & Moldovian. :)
But I only speak Russian among the three.
The other languages I speak are English, Russian and Japanese. I also speak a fair amount of Romance languages centered on Portuguese (Brazilian). My French is getting very rusty.
I used to be able to get by with Malay/Indonesian, Cantonese, having lived in Singapore for a number of years; but I’m fast losing it.
Languages you’re exposed to while being raised stay on, while those you pick up when you’re older fade away, if you move away from that particular language zone. That’s the case for me anyway.
Well, you take care now Jenya and I wish you all the best in Japan.

Nick Muhrin

P.S. All the best to you people who had posted above as well. Ja ne! :D

Although both /a/ and /jp/ were fond of bokusatsu, and he posted on both, there were those on either board that felt otherwise. I think the "no /a/ radio" rule is what really did him in.

>> No.861086

>>861080
That rule doesn't apply to /jp/

>> No.861100

I find it hard to believe that any mod could be THAT MUCH OF A FAGGOT to ever ban Bokusatsu. I seriously can't think of a worse thing than that. I've gotten used to the complete lack of moderation with the exception of occasionally deleting worksafe loli and good discussion threads, but that is too much for even the biggest faggot of a moderator to do.

>> No.861103

>>861086
Back in the early days of /jp/, they were still defining expected standards; many people felt that /a/ rules carried over, even if they weren't defined in the "charter" so to speak.

Which is why /jp/ radio threads are rare and we still can't post 3d under 18.

To sum up, MODS=FAGS

>> No.861107

>>861080
What.

Mods never banned Bokusatsu in /jp/. We once had like 4 Bokusatsu threads with 200+ replies in a row in here.

If he was banned in /jp/, then it was something recent.
