Haven't tried directly importing, but there are a couple of stores in my city that do. Of course, it's limited to whatever they get, that's usually less than a dozen every six months.

Still, I've gotten a few nice ones. A To Heart 2 Kotobukiya figure, and a nice goth loli. Good quality, a bit overpriced...

Best bet would be to try to get a direct importer, but I don't know how would you do that. And some of the american stores should be able to ship down here. It will be way overpriced (they love to charge extra for shipping when it's to a third world country) but it could calm your jitters.
