Now whether or not it would be a paradise for NEETs with complete isolation or a de-NEETing boot camp would depend on the season and how much was paid.

I'm a giant manly man and my armpits exude NFL player level bodily odors. I lived with a fellow NEET for a few months.
Not a /jp/er, in fact he was pretty much a stereotypical normal, except he had social anxiety. After our savings dried up, it became a race for employment.

No jobs were to be had, and when things got desperate enough we went separate ways. I won't go into everything that happened, but for awhile we were both homeless together and said the same kind of things to one another.

When you're cold and hungry enough, eventually you just say fuck the other guy.

My advice to anyone moving out on their own is to bury some money. Set aside a box of ramen, and if possible pick up a prepaid phone and don't tell anyone you have it. That way when push comes to shove, you can live long enough to find a way home, or at least to a more sustainable situation. Even if you trust each other completely, have that last ditch backup ready for emergencies.

And that, which should be clear enough, is why a roommate is a necessary evil in some cases. Yes, a lot can go wrong. But a little foresight can help dodge the worst of it (being a good judge of character certainly helps), and most places will allow you to go in on a six month lease.

I managed to escape my NEETness by getting a decent job and am living on my own, but now I'm just more depressed than ever. I thought maybe everything would come together if I could just become self-sufficient, but no. The only people I talk to are my co-workers, and we barely have anything in common so it's all superficial junk. I have no actual friends, and when I'm not working I do exactly the same thing as when I was a NEET. Except I barely have time for it anymore since 2/3 of my waking hours are spent working or chores.
