Are they actually comfortable? They sure make it look nice and comfy but then again those crazy japs think sitting in seiza is normal.

Lucky for you, no it doesn't. These things are one of the few fire code violations they'll come after you for if you've ever done it even once. That and having a live xmas tree in an apartment (which is pretty whatever, why would someone even want one? I mean I guess the issue must come up, since people get notices warning them not to do it, but where would you even get a cut pine tree IRL? Out the back of some guy's truck, like with those smelly-ass mini-coffins the immigrants like keeping around?)

I'd like to build one. For my fellow /jp/ers too. For free and out of love.

But I have no experience in carpentry and you'll likely just end up with splintery wood, uneven surfaces, one leg too short and badly hammered nails. I'm thinking about going to school/picking up some kind of apprenticeship for carpentry.

Yes. I couldn't stand winter without it, I practically live with half of my body inside it in cold months.

In every town I've ever lived in, around Christmas each year, the fire department would get a fuckton on trees and sell them.
There are also places that pop up around the same time selling them. Usually at plant nurseries.

I keep my house at 58゜F / 14.3゜C and wear a sweater. Being stuck under a single piece of furniture all season would suck.

Though, I must agree, I don't know why people want real trees.
They're a pain in the ass to clean up, you need to take care of them of they'll start dieing, and getting them in and out of your residence is sure to make more mess.

I've had it in storage for years now. It's the only thing there I miss.
