You seriously believe this? I'm using Windows 7 right now. Takes 5 minutes to start up, Mac takes 10 seconds. Can only run one or two applications at a time or computer hangs. Mac, can run 5/6+ with no problems what so ever.

Heterosexual Macfag here (we do exist). Windows is nice and its gazillion settings are really fun to fuck with, but I really like the way OS X is done and organized better.

The hardware part is insanely expensive, true. Still, the computer in itself looks sleeker than any PC I've had.

I also enjoy the fact that I don't have to spend 15 minutes a day to clean up the registry, defragment, tweak, fix, etc... I just use the damn computer to do what I want it to.

Mac will never become as popular as Windows, let alone MORE popular than Windows, haha.

Truth is, people don't want to pay the price of a small car for their computer. Also, people don't want to be limited in what they can do with their computer either. Which is why Mac will always fail.

PC users (both Linux and Windows) have the full flexibility of hardware and software CHOICE. They can choose what components they put in their computers, and they can choose from literally hundreds of thousands of different FREE open source software to use, it's heaven.

Add together the fact that you can build a PC that's more powerful than a Mac for less than half the price, and have the ability to play games, and still do everything a Mac can do, and better, you wonder why Apple still exists.

Let's not confuse applications and operative system. Windows is still shit at managing memory (they have to shit out shit like Superfetch to make it "seem" like it does) and CPU (the scheduler sucks balls). But as you say, it is more usable because it has more applications, but that doesn't mean the operative system itself is better.

Configuring Linux *is* a chore, but it's not "pointless" when you can get a faster system and you don't have to worry about shit like fragmentation, registry, sluggishness over time, viruses, firewalls, botnets, etc.

I'd like to point out that Apple was a failure as far back as the Apple 2. The BASIC on the machine sucked, and they had to get Microsoft's version to do floating point math.

Apple got Microsoft to make applications for the initial Macs.

Apple continues to rely on Microsoft to make applications for the Mac so that they can remain competitive in the business arena.

Apple would be a dead company by now had Microsoft not bailed them out with a ton of money in the late 90's.

Apple said PowerPC was superior to x86 technology, but now they use Intel.

Apple said their OS was faster and more secure that Windows, but then they switched to unix with a flashy interface.
