I just started playing Recettear, and honestly a lot of the dialogue is well written and hilarious.

I have no idea if the dialogue is a complete re-write or not. Normally re-write translations enrage the fuck out of me, but honestly even if Recettear is a re-write translation, they did a really good job with it.

I was wondering about the new game plus mode. I get the option of 0 to 10 bonus to enemies. What is a good choice for someone who had to save grind to get all masteries?

I don't want to play on too hard, and I don't want to end up having a too easy time. Going to run through Super now that I beat Real.

Why? Because official releases like Ar Tonelico are selling to the masses, which means they have to account for three types of people that fan translators don't:

1. Dimwits
2. People who know absolutely nothing about Japanese language, culture, or otaku culture
3. People who don't give a flying fuck about what the original script said

Professional translators can't translate being too faithful to the script, because that means making it harder/less pleasant to read for these people, who are by far the majority. The masses can't be pained to read notes, they don't want to think to understand a joke from a different culture, they have little concern for fidelity so long as it's entertaining.

So long as you're not translating for the masses, I would vastly prefer a note or two(I probably won't need them) and more meaning-faithful translation.

On another note, I really hate intellectual property and licensing regarding translation. It's bullshit that, by law, you have to take the translation of whoever pays for it, especially when the most established companies localize the shit out of things because that's what sells.

I recall a visual novel (can't remember which one) that changed a reference to a Japanese slapstick duo from the 50s to a Three Stooges allusion. I originally started the game on expert with autoblock off. I quickly turned auto guard on, and eventually I decided to switch the difficulty down to easy. It honestly didn't feel that different when I first made the change, but it feels easier now that I've got a full party now. Maybe I'll turn the difficulty back up. I wonder if actually using all those statboost candies instead of hoarding them in the item box would help noticeably.

Ok so I'm on day 6. I've spoken to the mayor and got permission to wander around, I've looted all the chests in caves available to me. I can get to a room with 4 pushable blocks and water on either side where even making platforms in the water with the blocks I can't jump far enough to get to either path.

There was another cave past the wind tower I think with a weighted switch i couldn't do anything with alone, went there before talking to the mayor. Where exactly am I supposed to be going? I read something about a pedestal earlier in the thread but I haven't found anything like that. Just two pillar blocked paths, one with a crystal and one with a heart.

The ai seems to know how to hold spells to keep floating over stuff.
Made this guy way easier since Arche would roll inside to dodge the breath while both of the casters would float over it.
It was an endurance fight for sure though and I got whacked the first time badly because of his drop. Shield II on Stella or Arche is lovely.

Speaking of swords, I just got the 2nd crest. Will the weapon shop in Stella's town open up tomorrow or should I buy this? I'm not a grinder so I wont have this cash again for a while

That room you're forced to drop down into after to go back down the tower. There's a doorway on the right side of a room that leads to a platforming puzzle which is turned on by the key.

You can get to that chest after breaking the seal on Arche's elemental stone and unlocking the ability to double and triple jump. Enjoy your block puzzle.

What am I supposed to do after getting all the crests and deciding on unsealing by finding old Headmaster? I can't find any new towers or anything.

He's nowhere to be seen to the north of Stella's hometown or capital city, in fact, there are no events near Wind Tower either, not that I've gone too deep in there to look for him yet. I also tried offering that fat gourmet guy who tries every food buns from volcano city, tarts from Stella's capital, dialogue never changes. I heard that some weird dude was in Stella's capital, but it was just a guard.

Am I missing something? What should I do?

I beat the game a couple of hours ago and scoured the bonus area of the final dungeon behind the passcoded door. I decided after doing that to backtrack and buy all the clothing items. I've gotten 5 dresses and hairdbands for Arche and 3 outfits and ribbons for Stella, however 5 smocks and 4 berets for Sana. The missing beret being blue. The blue smock is a darker blue than her default. I'm wondering if anybody's found a blue beret.

Also for statboost item collection. I have 9 power drops, 7 tough drops, 12 good child drops, 8 guardian drops, 8 stronggirl juices, and 12 mystery juices. I wonder if that's all of them.

So far there are only 4 things in this game I'm still curious as I think I've managed to backtrack everywhere already.

The nun in Chartreux, I wonder if there's anything special for giving her 100k copper.

The cliff that points nowhere west of Korat, I've gotten all the way to the right side of the area and there's nothing there.

That cave to the right of the Hot Springs dungeon with only 4 torches inside.

And this thing I found in the Crypt.

Anyone capable of shedding any light on my questions?

For saving purposes. How to optimally distribute them isn't an easy thing to figure out though I suppose all the pwoer drops I could just give to Arche. Eh, there's definitely future stuff coming up. The game pretty much left a whole fucking bunch of hanging threads that seem like they'll be addressed in a sequel.

The voice commanding the dark witch at the end of the game, the sealed entrance to the volcano in Korat and the broken statue in the fire shrine, the missing stone tablet, Scotsholm and Abyssnia, Sana's and Stella's unseen fathers, that cliff that overlooks a whole bunch of nothing. There's a whole lot of stuff that needs to be addressed.

I'm guessing game clear data is definitely going to be transferrable in some way.

Is there an in game map I'm missing somewhere? All of the dungeons generally look the same and there's rarely a way to tell if you're going the way to advance or the way to find some chests until you actually get there.

At least the crest doors are clearly different, but running around in caves gets confusing.

While backtracking through every single area of the game it seems it's possible to trap yourself in this room if you push the blocks in front of the doorm escapable now since I have teleport, but early on this would be impossible to escape from without using the give up option.

I wonder why there are two blocks in here anyways.
