If it's about the board itself, e.g. "/jp/ has too many meta threads," I read it "jay-pee" like in the song. Because that's what normal people do when given a country code abbreviation.
However if it's part of some sort of compound word like "/jp/sie", I read it "jip". Same if I'm reading real fast.

But this point is moot because it's one of those words you never need to say out loud.
