I've seen plenty of terrible 80s anime. You need to broaden your horizon a little. Go beyond the "classics", they're considered such for a reason. A sweeping statement like "anime was better in the 70s/80s" reeks of ignorance.

There's shit everywhere with a few diamonds poking out in ever decade, but personally the nostalgia factor for watching good titles first experienced in my late teen years is very strong... There were tons of better anime in the 80s no matter how you look at it. I cant really remember anything from the 90s and 2000s that really got me going, "holy shit this is a masterpiece" and even today im watching 80s shows that i didn't before so there is no nostalgia factor. It just really because that artists and creators made what they wanted and didn't look for fans, unlike the all of the 2000s for the most part.

>> No.8491468

First anime I ever watched was Space Cobra. It was absolutely terrible. Your typical 90s mahou shoujo or 2000s "moeblob" anime was better than that pile of garbage. This is why I think "decade x was better than decade y" is stupid. It's like when people say Hollywood was better in the 30s or whatever. They pumped out terrible movies as cash cows then just as they do now. Hell, Casablanca was never intended as anything else.
People are stupid and blinded by nostalgia.

Not the guy you're replying to, but is it possible you like the shows more simply because they're from the 80s? I mean, if there was an 80s moeblob show, it would be "ahead of its time" and plenty of people would love it. I'm sure such a show would be a cult classic, but it would be overlooked if released in the 2000s.
Not that liking old things for the sake of being old is bad, of course. I like old games because only having a few kilobytes of memory and a limited color palette meant games had to be overall better to be worth playing (though there was a lot of shit then too). A few of the girls on the left are 15 years old. The difference is they look like they're 15 instead of 10

Sorry, hollywood is even more shitty.

yeah, she was and acted like a real 15 year old slut, which was realistic. the mc picked misa, a much wiser and realistic choice.

I agree, though you're dense if you think having teenage main characters is a recent development.

I'm not saying there were no 15 year olds, im saying mature characters COULD OF been main characters and were, even the 15 year olds felt realistic and were human. unlike the fake stereotype shit you see today.
