Indeed their promo pictures and sculpts have gotten better, but they instead have shit quality control. I've seen so many nightmare images around of blogs and myfig, I hesitate to spend money on a Griffon unless it's a character I know I can't get a fig of otherwise. And I still only own a single one. Haha wow. It's a conundrum, too; the terribleness seems to be inherent to specific releases. Some of them are fine, but then you get cases like the Satori or Yukari where every single one produced are shitty, wow.

They should really look for a better slavehouse. Look at Alter, their slaves are doing such fine jobs; how come Griffon can't/don't want to find laborers of that level? sigh

>>8489033
Saw that one when it was hot here, wrote it off as an unavoidable fuck up due to unexpected explosions in demand (since such cases has also happened to bigger companies like MF, GSC, and even Bandai). Eh.

MF cheaped out on releases quite a few times. Off the top of my head, there was that thing with BRS' torso joint. Then there was that one with the ridiculous amount of complaints about broken shoulders, with some even coming with broken shoulder joints (can't remember which release it was, though). Some of the ones with the older hand joint were sometimes problematic, as well.

But yeah, they're nowhere near Griffon quality.

>> No.8489111

Most of MF figmas are cheap shit.
Are you rally expecting PVC like details and quality from them when you are only paying a quarter of price compare to a scale fig?
Broken joints? Got some pics? Can figma really break?

>> No.8489140

>>8489111
Noone's talking about (aesthetic) quality here.

Yup, they break. Some extreme cases like the ones I mentioned were circulated heavily in /toy/ a year or two ago, in fact. They've gotten sturdier and sturdier, though; still, there's almost no excuse for them to still be using those transparent joints. Those are the parts that break the easiest, and the only reason to use them is because they're cheap.

>> No.8489172

As an owner of a few Griffon figurines, I can honestly say that I cringe whenever I pre-order one of their figurines.

I really hope they don't fuck up Byakuren. But I know they will.

>> No.8489196

Well that was interesting. Looking at some pics and reviews on the net, it really seems like Russian Roulette.

When I found a pic of a certain release with relatively no defect, I found that almost always, all the other pics and reviews of that release were relatively QC error-free. On the other hand, when I found a pic of a particular release with a lot of QC fuckups, almost all of the other pics and reviews of that release also showed horrible defects of one form or another. So I guess if I were to get one of the 'safe' release, I'm almost guaranteed to get a decent fig, if I lower my expectation.

Oh well, at least it was interesting read. It was fun laughing at other people's misery, especially if it comes from silly autistic things like damaged figurines.
